Ask your girlfriend what she wants to do. It's probably not necessary for you to get your own. Just either give your girlfriend some money toward whatever she was going to do, or get them something that compliments her gift and can be given with it (ie. you give a bottle of wine if she bought wine glasses. . . or something like that.)

When she got the invite it was probably to her and a guest. Since you don't know her friend that is getting married I wouldn't worry about a gift. Your girlfriend probably has that taken care of and if she hasn't ask her if she would like you to help pick it out.

Just ask her...."Would you like me to pitch in toward the wedding present or want me to go with you to pick it out?"

Ask her if she wants any money towards it. My now-husband and I had been dating for almost 3 months when he asked me to his bosses wedding, which was 5 months after we started dating. I never offered money towards a gift but I helped him pick it out.

While it is very thoughtful of you to want to bring a gift of your own it is not necessary. The gift is your girlfriends responsibility..

However if you wish you can suggest to your girlfriend, splitting the cost of the gift and choosing it together...

It would be nice of you to contribute to the gift, but you are by no means obligated to contribute. It is her friend's wedding, she just asked you to join her at the wedding. So, my answer is, how poor are you vs how nuch of a nice guy do you want to appear to your gf? I'd suggest kick in $10-$20, and your gf will rave about you to her friends.

I'd talk to your girlfriend and see if she would like you to go in on the present with her. If she says yes then give the combined gift. If she says no, then it depends on whether or not you know the person. If you know them maybe get them a card and give them a little cash. If you've never met them then I wouldn't worry about a gift.

You don't need your own gift, When my bf and I 1st were dating whose ever wedding it was paid for the gift, but we both signed the card. But offering to chip in is always a nice gesture
