Rehab is probably the best way.

Otherwise, here's some things you'll need to do -

Change the triggers that make you drink - these are people you hang out with, places you usually go, things you do.

Create new triggers - people, place and things that don't involve drinking. If you are not around it, you can't drink.

Otherwise if you are faced a situation, just say NO, I have given that up. That will be tough in the beginning, but you will feel stronger for it.

Take it one day at a time and remember the reasons you don't want to drink anymore. See all the benefits to your well being.

It all begins with pushing the drink away and saying NO. It begins with you.

You can stop drinking - if you put your mind to it.

What if you couldn't get that drink anywhere - discontinued - companies on strike. Think about it. You'd survive.

If you cannot possibly control your addiction - then you will have to seek help either thru rehab or AAA or psychotherapy.

You realize that you are causing internal hemorraging and a deterioration of your brain cells - don't you??? That should be enough reason - not to mention the expense and out of control state you put yourself in.

It's best to get some help with detox, because it can be dangerous. If you're not willing or can't afford rehab, then ask God to help and find a friend who will stick with you. AA is also a good place to go for help. You sound ready, so go for it and stick with it. Good luck it'll be worth it when you succeed.

AA is a great outpatient source! You don't have to detox in a hospital or rehab.. look in your phone book for Alcholics Anonomis (AA) they have a 24 hour hotline.

Go to the hospital to detox so you don't seize at home. That way you don't have to go to rehab, it's only voluntary....

If the person is a believer in Jesus Christ... pray and ask the Lord for strength to release the bondage that alcohol is making them captive to. GOD CAN DO ANYTHING...but fail!
