The bible said some such about the christian god likeing to hear the begging? Also like the smell of burnt offerings. I have to agree here.

If god knows what will happen already, then praying is not needed. He already knows what he is going to do. In fact its rather rude. In fact, since he already knows everything, why not skip to the end of it all??

I completely agree with you here, and have often thought this myself, until I actually thought about it.

The reason, I think, is probably a sub-conscious way of feeling better about yourself, if you pray for other people, then that (to some people) means that you are a good person, if you are praying for yourself then it might help some people feel bigger and more important as they may believe that 'Almighty' is listening to them and aware of them, therefore they must be important.

And there is also the placebo effect, for example if you were praying to Almighty to rid you of a troublesome ghost or a headache or something, then by praying, even if Almighty does nothing, you feel like he/she/it has, therefore relieving you of your problem, even if there is in reality no difference.

Basically the answer to your question is people pray for their individual psychological reasons (whether they are aware of it or not). It has nothing to do with the Almighty really.

Because If a Christian speaks the scripture it sent into the spriritual world and begins to take form. Neither the angels or the demons can tell the difference between Scripture spoken by God or Scripture spoken by Christians who have the Holy Spirit in them. To them Scripture is Scripture.

K there were 3 archangels
Micheal in charge of the warring angels (look in Rev.)
Gabriel head of the messenger angels(Came unto Mary)
Lucifer head of the worshiping angels.

When a Christian speaks scripture (there is a reason why it is referred to as the living word) All messenger angels, warring, worshipping angels spring into action.Depending on which type is called for.

Now consider this Lucifer was cast out of heaven with 1/3 of the angels. That means he took some of the worshipping some of the waring and some of the messenger. They are now fallen angels(demons) They may be fallen but did not loose their powers. So before careful what u speak. They are working just as hard for their lord as the good angels are working for their Lord.

Example: Ever been alone and had a thought pop into your head of when you were a kid of someone telling you you weren't good enough, stupid,or ugly , or fat... hint that was one of the messenger angels. guess which side that messenger angel is on.

I hope that helped when u pray in scripture there is a very real and ever moving point to it.

Prayer is a show of faith, and an acceptance that you believe God can help you and that He will.
Every time I pray, I don't know whether it has an effect on the outcome or not, but if I don't try, how will I know!
I also believe what Jesus said: that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can do anything. It is really difficult for me to articulate what I mean, because I don't really understand the cause/effect thing myself, but I have had prayers answered. So at the very least, I will pray to give thanks for that.

We don't have to pray but God wants you to have a relationship with him in spirit to let him know you have faith in Him to receive what you want and if you do pray you will have to ask for something for the right motive, and we ask for things that will glorify Him. We christians mostly pray for others because of the souls to be saved but the decision is yours and can only happen when the heart humbles before God so that's why He said He only walks with the humble hearts and never walk with the prideful hearts.

God the Almighty knows all, he doesn't decide what we want or need. That's the freedom that we're granted. If you're religious it's the belief that he can do anything that we want (or really need) him to do. He grants us the things that we deserve but we have to pray to him (show our belief in him) and hope that the belief will result in help for ourselves and others. It's just faith.

Where did you hatch this imbecelic statement. Where in the Bible does it say that God knows AND DECIDES about our wants and needs? God might know our wants and needs, but He doesn't decide anything until you specifically pray for them. Bear in mind that there is a vast difference between a want and a need. Go well, and God Bless!

Because we need to have that time of communication with him. Prayer is a lot more than just "asking for". In fact, if you look at the Lord's payer, the "asking" is a whole 7 words of it. The rest is acknowledging who he is, surrrendering to his will, pledging to do what he wants, repenting of the mistakes we have made, and forgiving others around us, and desiring to walk pure in the future. Prayer is so that God can change us, not so that we can chance him.

Our prayers make a difference, because God knew we would pray them before He made the world and they helped to shape the way things turn out even back then. And God waits to be asked, He likes to be asked!

Dear Chinrasu,

God knows our wants and our needs, but he doesn't decide on them (if He did- we wouldn't desire and want things outside of His will). We pray to not only receive things from God (although God does tell us that often we don't have because we don't ask). Asking shows our trust in God, and also reveals much about what we think of God's character. Often in our asking God reveals our hearts to us- there is a bible passage that says you ask but don't receive because you ask amiss (your motives are wrong).

Praying for others builds compassion and sometimes there are situations that we can only humanly help someone as much as possible. For example my friend is a couple of weeks overdue to have her baby- so i'm praying for her. As her friend i can take her to the hospital, give her water, etc., but ultimately i'm limited.

Prayer is our dependence upon God and God commands it because He knows how important it is- and how we are able to receive God's help when we depend and look to Him.

God desires a relationship with us. So it's like knowing that your kids want ice cream but asking them about their favorite flavor or where they'd like to go get it. You're not just communicating for information sake- you're building intimacy and prayer builds our intimacy with God.

Hope that helps,

Nickster
