No, You have to put an ad in the paper and if nobody claims it in a certain amount of time, then you get a lawyer and he gets you the title. My mom had to do it on a brand new jeep that someone sold her real cheap, he died, so she called a lawyer and that is what she had to do. Hope this might help, I don't know the story on the car sitting 14 years. Maybe you should put a little more info! Good luck.

If you go to a hot rod magizine.com they have a place out of New York that takes the vin and licenses it there, and then sells it back to you, as long as it has never been reported stolen or problems or liens with the title, some how New Yorkers can buy cars that have been abandoned, this is a way a lot of people that go out and find old old cars to fix up but there is no title do it, hope this helps.

It probably depends on where you live. In Tx if someone leaves something on your property for 3 months, it is considered to now be yours. Talk to somebody at the tags & title place to find out how you should go about getting it in your name. If you don't want it, call the police and report it as abandoned. Or if you know the previous owner, get them to be responsible for taking care of it.

It would still belong to whoever titled it last, but if it's been sitting for 14 years it could be considered abandoned if someone calls the police. If it's in a garage or something, don't worry about it. But if it's just sitting on public property and it's a nuiscance. you could call the police and they would have it towed. It wasn't really clear from your question, but I hope this helps
