when I was raising finches,
one of my females broke a leg,
I took her out of the aviary and put her in a cage in
the living room,
I splinted the leg with scotch tape
after about three weeks I removed it.
She not only lived but eventually,
set and raised babies

Birds are not likely to survive if they break a leg. Sorry to be blunt like that but it's basically true, I read somewhere (sorry I forget which book) that when birds bone break it affects their ablity to breath properly. If you can get it to a vet and they splint it there still is not a very high chance the bird will survive. I have taken injured bird to an avian specialist several times and they have all died. Young birds especially are hard to keep alive after an injury, I breed parakeets and have lost several to broken and or legs defected from birth. But if the little guy does make it the good for you.

Microwave or boil a million/2 coffee cup of water. Then upload a palm full of dry cat nutrition and enable stand/soak for 20-half-hour until eventually delicate. Stir vigorously with a fork or blender to interrupt aside into thick moist mush. place mush into corner of plastic bag and decrease that corner of bag with small hollow. place open corner of bag into the back of the birds mouth whilst slowly squeezing small quantities of mush out of the bag. enable the poultry to swallow and don't feed quickly. you're able to have the skill to work out the birds gullet filling after the nutrition slides down this is throat. If the poultry would not sense the warmth nutrition interior the back of this is mouth it won't seek for to consume it. Make small parts of nutrition because it heavily isn't sturdy for greater beneficial than 8 hours. The poultry WILL overeat, so be certain to purely feed some teaspoon-tablespoon at a time at each and every 2-3 hours. The poultry gets it fluid from the soaked cat nutrition. sturdy success! we've mastered saving infant birds right here in Virginia :) The leg could heal via itself if saved in an extremely small section to avert lots pass, which contain an extremely very small field. this might could desire to characterize a nest for the poultry.

you can't and it'll die within a month or so. there's nothing you can do. don't pick it up as you will cause pain.the bird will end up depending on the good leg but at the same time he'll stay at the bottom of the cage so place water and seed down there. it dies from an infection that sets in the break.......

You really need to take the bird to the vet. They are trained in how to do this properly. By doing it yourself, you could be doing permanent damage to the leg.
