I thank you for the responses giving on the last question you all were very helpful. My next question is, children with ADHD, my son has been on meds for 5 years now, I had him taking off of it because he wasnt happy with the way it made him feel, He's been good for me at home and follows directions, at school hes been having problems it hasnt happened in my situation but I have had friends who have also taking their children off of the medication because they feel narcotics arent what children shoul have,One of the schools told my friend if her child wasnt back on the medication that child protective services will be called for neglect and the child will not be allowed to attend school until he is back on the meds all because he cant sit still in class. WTF?? Im worried same thing will happen to me as far as my son is concerned? What has happened with the teachers these days if a kid has problems or bad he automaticaly has ADD or ADHD and needs to be drugged?

When I was in school teachers delt with the problems the kids had there was rarely medication involved. Now adays it seems the teachers cant deal with a child who has problems unless you drug him or her up, as a parent I think its wrong.

First of all my fiancé is a first grade teacher. I've seen the blood sweat and tears she puts into her job day in and day out. You can’t sit there and blast public educators based on a single teacher’s incompetence.

Teachers can not force your child to be placed on medication. The mother of that child should have been kicking down the principal and superintendents door the moment she was told this.

Secondly, children's services is a joke. They do nothing to investigate cases of neglect even in the most severe cases. I've seen teachers cry over their helplessness when they've done all they can for a child and red tape gets in the way.

You should schedule a meeting with your son's teacher, principal and special needs coordinator immediately and tell them exactly what needs to happen.

If this teacher cannot handle your child he should be moved to another class and that teacher should be evaluated by the state.

You need to get involved with your child's education as much as possible. If your son’s school gives you problems work your way up to the school board. This is not a situation that you turn the other cheek. You need to fight for your son’s right to get a quality education. You’re his only hope in a situation like this.

If you still have no luck with your child’s teacher try to find a teacher with special training with ADD/ADHD. Most actually do, in fact your son’s teacher should know not only one, but several scientific methods to calm and help focus your child.

Some children can be calmed when they listen to soft music though head phones. Others are given fidget toys to work with. The list and methods are extensive and no one said it’s easy to control 25 plus kids in a small class room but the bottom line is – it’s their job. They love it, it’s their life. If they don’t feel that way you don’t want your child in their class.

Parents should not be afraid to send their children to school. If you have any problems speak with your child's teacher first, then work up from there if you have to.

"U.S. House overwhelmingly passed a bill 407-12 barring schools from requiring hyperactive children to use drug treatments as a condition for attending classes."

There is a federal law that will prevent the school from forcing you to medicate your child. I've included a link that has some information regarding this situation. This is happening all over the country where the schools are trying to force medication because they are not taking the responsibility of teaching children proper school behavior. I am very glad that you are intouch with your son enough to listen to him and help make the decisions about medication - - don't let them bully you into anything! You and your son have rights - - and CPS can not take your child from you for not medicating him because the school says so.

There is a second link regarding CPS & child medication.

I am in education and completely agree with you.
Our kids don't need drugs!!! They need to be really taught and may need behavior modification classes so they can learn to control their behavior themselves without being drugged.
I personally find it hypocritical that people will endorse ADHD drugs and then preach anti drug to their kids. I mean what do the kids think???? I think ADHD drugs can be as much of a gateway as other drugs or alcohol.

First of all the child is not Schizophrenic and not court ordered to take the drugs I am sure, so they have no right to take YOUR and YOUR childs rights away.

I think if you are afraid of them coming after you, you should slowly taper the child off the drugs in small incremental levels, this is probably best for them too so they can get used to less and less til they don't need it.
Put the child into a supplemental counciling program tailored specifically to alternative to drug approaches to adhd.
Good luck!!!

first of all, no teacher can make you put child on medication. That is your right. Second of all I would not take a threat lightly i would call the superintendent of the school and let them know what this teacher said. As for school if he keeps misbehaving the school will just start calling you to have you com and get him if he gets 2 out of hand. Its not neglect cuz you dont want your child on meds. lol that is just stupid. dont even worry about it. You know u take care of your son.

Does your daughter's instructor comprehend approximately her Montessori history? If no longer, it incredibly is definitely something she needs to comprehend approximately, because of the fact it would surely make an impact on how she behaves and learns in a non-Montessori college. From what I comprehend, to be clinically determined with ADHD, the youngster could desire to have indications in 2 distinctive environments (in many cases abode and faculty) that are no longer undemanding. each and every time my scholars' mothers and dads have their toddlers examined, I get carry of a survey to fill out. the mothers and dads additionally fill out the survey, and that they use this recommendation (alongside with different advice, i'm hoping) to diagnose. in case you do no longer see issues at abode, then a prognosis of ADHD is maximum in all probability no longer likely to take place. i think of that's great which you're dealing with with testing and studying the area. It exhibits which you're open to the possibility that something could no longer be precise, which ability you're open to potential strategies on your daughter. on your case, i think of your daughter is in all probability wonderful, and such as you mentioned, uninterested in the paintings to this point. as quickly as you have have been given greater advice from the testing, you will meet with your daughter's instructor to return up with some innovations which will help your daughter behave at school. perfect desires!
