Theres so much child abuse that surely plenty of us are potential pervs/at least we must unwittingly know one? It's just that the police say the crimes they cover are "the tip of the iceberg",it seems very widespread.

However, if you think about the fact that there are millions of people living in every country. The amount of them seems to be much much smaller and not as widespread as it sounds when you just look at these figures on their own.

So, if you look at it that way, not all families will have a perv/potential perv.

Plus, you don't know what goes on in other people's minds. As far as you know, everyone is a potential one.

Serious answer: Every person has a potential perv according to what you call perv. Some think that any pre-marital sex of any kind is perversion. Some even believe that masturbation is perversion.

I don't know how much what we hear about pedophilia is real and how much is mass hysteria. I hope it's mass hysteria, but I fear it's real.

Apparently one in ten children are abused. Given that the majority of these incidents presumably occurred to children by their own parents or after being "cared" for by supposedly trustworthy friends or relatives. It's a scary thought as you point out, that could mean any close relative could be a "secret paedohile".

On this basis both me and the father of my child have only let four people in six years look after our child ever when we have not been there....as you can imagine people we have known and can vouch for all our lives.

I don't understand how some people can let their children be babysat by neighbours, or friends they barely know. They are the most precious things in your life....and unfortunately, there are too many nasty people out there nowadays.

I don't know about "every" family, but I do believe that pervs in the family are more the rule rather than the exception to the rule. It's amazing how widespread it is.

I genuinely don't know one in my Family I wouldn't like there to be either. Some of the parents of people who commit these unnatural crimes must be devastated

we all have the potential to be perves, just the vast majority of us have a conscience and ethical/moral values that tells us it is not acceptable to behave that way in our society, its only when that moral/ethical fabric is weak or not there (for whatever reason) that people cross the line.

yes...former perv here...i would think that is the case....if i can't get love then i will romanticize it....or i will think that love is sex in which case i will romanticize sex. I was abused and well it wasn't fun and i don't care what women think....you need to realize that it hurts being a man and we just want to feel loved....if i go to jail for that...then so be it.

No.

Simple answer.

Perhaps you know a perv...In fact, I'd bet that if you check your state's sex-offender registry page, there will be a few in your neighborhood.

However, there are definitely none in my family.

Most perverted crimes are by a family or friend rather than a stranger to the victim. Which makes you wonder why we shouldn't talk to strangers, maybe we shouldn't talk to our Uncles?
