Now and then I find little white slugs (or so they look) on his tail and his coat. They are maybe 1/4" long and they seem to pulsate (get longer then shorter). I've found the 2nd one today and the 1st one about 3 weeks ago.

That sounds like worms! He needs to go to the vet!!

Those are most definitely tape worms you are seeing. They are almost like alien creatures, they are so nasty. The vet will give your cat a pill and he will be fine, but you must take him to the vet. My cat had the same thing. I couldn't believe my eyes as I saw one of those white nasty things stretch its way out of my kitty's butt.

Your cat has worms. Get it to a vet. Or ...check the pet stores for OTC Remedies.

it sounds like it might be maggots does the cat have a injury that you know of? If I were you I would take the cat to the Vet.

Worm eggs. The worms are in his intestines, and they are shedding eggs in order to propagate in another animal.. You need to take a fecal sample to the vet, and get meds to de-worm him..

Iy could be worms. worms are very serica if left untreated! Get to a vet right away this could be urgent!!!

they are round worms and you should get some medicine for him and have a vet check him out becuase he could have other kinds of worms to.
