People nowaday are very cold and unfriendly even in a religious place where love and harmony is emphazised. The most unbelieveable part is, even the educated group of professionals are not reflecting positive social manners to each other...why?

People appear resentful and defensive when they are feeling threatened or inferior. In this competitive world we live in, it is very easy to feel that other people are better/richer/more successful than you.
As to appearing cold and unfriendly, again that is the way our society is going - many people are afraid to speak to strangers, suspecting ulterior motives. Don't forget that the media has a lot to do with that - every time you pick up a newpaper or turn on the TV for the news, there are stories of attacks and robbery, etc.
Just stay who you are and eventually people will warm to you - we all need time.

People are resentful and defensive these days because they've been burned in the past. They take it slow and cooly by displaying their non-vulnerable side, and usually if you are up to their par, they will open up. In a nutshell, people were once vulnerable and naive and probably taken advantage of, so as a result they are more bitter--resentful and defensive.

Thaty sounds very general. I am around very positive people most of the time. Maybe look for the positive ones.

Because We have all gotten away from God. Satan wants nothing more than for us to be defensive instead of showing love toward each other. If you want to know why? Ask yourself why would someone such as Satan want it that way? What is it that Satan is trying to accomplish?

You can not be suddenly reserntful or defensive... But less you express yourself, or more you observe the surrounding, you will be slowly resentful and defensive.
