They are in pain and ache for a few days. There are a lot of possible side effects from the vaccinations.
Vaccinations are good for many years and the vet won't tell you this.

After this, go do some research on the web. There is a lot about over vaccination and a LOT about side effects.

Usually those are normal side effects. But if they last longer than 48 hours the MOST call your vet. But with in the first 24 hours, i wouldn't stress too much.
Your dog is probably panting from the stress of going to the vet, much sure there is clean water out. Just like humans, dogs can run low grade fevers after vaccines.
I am sure your lab will be feeling better tomorrow!

Yes, it is best to stagger the vaccines...Rabies first, and the other vaccine about 2 weeks after. This gives you a better chance to pinpoint a reaction, give the dog a chance to absorb it, and also, if there is a reaction, it will not be so severe.
I also do not give all the multi vaccines that are all in one.....Your vet should always tell you what to look for. I have 2 Schnauzers, and I alway stagger the vaccines with my girls.
I hope this helps you in the future, and also hope your Lab is feeling better~~~Maggie

Yeah, my dog used to get lethargic after the rabies vaccine. Not usually for more than about 24 hours, though. Might want to at least give the vet a call to ease your concern.

Rabies tends to make a dog very tired and painful where the shot was given. If the dog hasn't improved by tomorrow, take him back to the vet.

Call your vet just in case and talk to them, but I am pretty sure they can feel lethargic for a few days after their shots. My dog recently did this. He wouldn't eat either. He was like this for about 3 days. When we took him to the vet, the vet wasn't in, but the receptionist told us it was normal. He was back to normal in about a week.

They can have reactions of varying severity ranging from slight swelling to death.
I do not ever give rabies at the same time as distemper, one at a time is hard enough on them.

DONT KNOW WHAT RABIES WILL DO BUT MY GREAT DANE(6 MONTHS) JUST GOT A CONDITION CALLED ( HOD) B/C OF THE DISTEMPER SHOT! A CRIPPLING DISEASE OF THE GROWTH PLATES. WHICH CAN GO AWAY OR CAUSE DEFORMITIES AND PAIN. MY DOG HAS SO MUCH PAIN HE CANT WALK. DO A SEARCH ON DISTEMPER SHOTS. IT WILL OPEN YOUR EYES, IT DID MINE.

Please at least call your vet and check on this....as with any vaccination there is a possibility of side effects although they do not happen often. Your vet may ask you to check the color of your dogs gums....they should be pink like yours. Is there swelling at the injection site? tenderness? off feed? At the very least this reaction should be noted on your dogs records. Please call them.
