I believe you have Adobe Acrobat Reader. Adobe Acrobat Reader does not create pdf files for you. They can only open pdf files.
If you would like to turn your files into pdf files, you need Adobe Acrobat, but you have to pay for it. If you would like to turn your files into pdf files for free, you may try other software such as pdf995.
Hope this helps. =)

Everyone's right. The only thing I would add; If you're making PDF's which will be professionally printed, use Adobe Acrobat - not any of the emulators. And, look through the list of printers in any applications you may have added, for example, Abby Fine Reader. Some app's have the ability to generate PDF's, but again, they're not for professional use. You can also create PDF's online, through the adobe website, for free. I don't know if they still do this, but they used to a few years ago.

....Yes, you must have an Adobe Acrobat Writer as well. When you save the document, be it in Excell, Word, Picture or any document as pdf, you are actually printing it but not in the actual printer but in a pdf form. Acrobat Writer makes this possible. For instance, after saving a document, try printing it. Your printer menu will direct you to choose where would you like to print, in your LPT1 which is your actual printer OR Acrobat Writer. Choose Acrobat Writer and this software will 'print' your document by saving it in another from from let's say, .doc to .pdf. Opening a file in pdf is easy, you have an Acrobat reader for you to use.

To open a PDF file for reading, you just need a Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be download freely at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Sometimes, a pdf file is created based on a newer version, thus you might need to update your exisiting version. However, I have found that the newer the version, the slower it is.
To edit a PDF file, you can purchase Adobe Acrobat at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/
The other option is to download the open source software from
http://www.openoffice.org/
Of course, there are other software that can perform the function as well, but I recommend you select for either one that I have mention.

What you have is ADobe Reader - that's just what it will allow you do to. I believe you can save a copy to your computer but cannot edit it or create anything in *.pdf. If you want to create an Adobe file - you'll have to purchase Adobe. I think they have a 30-day free version if you want to try it.

Adobe Reader is Freeware. What you need is Adobe Acrobat.
The pro v7 is $449.00 USD. Upgrade is $149.00 USD
I'd shop around & see if there is a cheaper PDF maker out there.
