We know that Jesus is "the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world."
That said, it's only logical that God also had Mary in mind as his mother, from all eternity as well.
No one really knows for sure if Joseph had a wife before Mary, but it's possible.
What's not possible is the Blessed Virgin having any children other than Jesus Christ. This ridiculous assertion is based on a serious and intentional misinterpretation of scripture, according to late and seriously flawed Protestant faith traditions.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant, and was dedicated solely to Jesus, just as the original Ark of the Covenant in the old testament, was dedicated solely to God.
Even Protestants know what happened to any man who even touched the original Ark.
Furthermore, the Catholic church actually experienced Jesus, the apostles, the Virgin Mary, all the Gospel events, and much more.
The church knows with certainty that Mary was and is ever virgin, no matter what some poeple like to quote, based on their personal and incorrect interpretation of scripture.
Jesus didn't ride on a used donkey to make his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, or even make use of a pre-occupied tomb for his short, three day stay.
He is God. Just as in old testament times, God prefers to use pure and sacred vessels, set aside for service only to him, and once sanctified, never to be used again for profane purposes of any kind.
I don't know what became of that donkey, but I know that no one was ever again buried In Jesus' tomb ... and no one else ever emerged from the Blessed Virgin Mary's holy womb.

The Bible has no recording of Joseph being married prior to Mary the mother of Jesus. So all the children that Mary had after Jesus(yes she had other children) were all half brothers and sisters to Jesus,....not step siblings as many would have you believe.
Mary was chosen by God because she was righteous and was a virgin who believed in God...you have to understand that many people had strayed from God the Creator...but were worshiping all kinds of things.....so God chose Mary.

I didn't know that Joe had a first wife, but if he did, her name was Maria, and though pregnant she was deported as an illegal alien. However she was able to sneak back over the border so that Jesus' half brother was born an Israeli citizen! The reason: well, maybe God liked Mary's blue eyes better than Maria's brown ones. Who knows?

What the heck makes you think Joseph was married before he married Mary? The Bible does not say that.

Mary was Joseph's first wife and only one. They didn't exchange wives like we do today as if they were yesterdays laundry.

In theory, Mary was chosen for her virtues, not because she was Joseph's wife.

More than likely, he didn't have a first wife. Men always married when they were older and women when they were younger.
