Ephesians 2: 8,9 says, "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." It is by the faith of Jesus Christ that we are saved, and this faith is trust that Christ suffered and died as a substitute for our sins on the cross. To accept His salvation, you have to admit that you are a sinner and are powerless and can do nothing to save yourself from your sins, and put your trust in Christ that your penalty for your sins, past, present, and future, have already been paid for. When you accept this salvation, this is when Christ enters your heart. Baptism is a statement that you have repented of your sins and accepted the saving grace of God, and your imersion into the water symbolizes your death to sin and your rebirth into the spirit. But baptism is not a requirement for salvation, and the Bible shows nothing to say that you must be baptized to be saved. I hope this helps you.

The Bible says that in order to be saved you must be "born again" of the Spirit. Jesus said "I am THE way, THE truth and THE life... NO ONE gets to the Father except through ME".
So--Jesus is the only way. How do you get born again? Through Jesus. You let Him into your heart, acknowledge Him as Lord of your life, confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. You confess to God all your sins, and turn away from your sin. You live your life for Jesus. Find a good, Bible-based church--the church is so important in your spiritual growth. Speak with the pastor about getting baptized and he will tell you all about it, answer your questions, explain anything you need explained. Read the Bible, especially the New Testament.
If you go to www.cbn.com and put your mouse pointer over the "spiritual life" tab on the top, a drop down list will appear. Click on "teaching sheets". There is a list of links there with a LOT of good info about Christianity. Answers to questions you might have, how to get saved, and all kinds of advice and information.
Hope this helps!
Blessings!

You do have to accept Jesus and let him into your heart. Baptism is not a requirement for getting saved, but Jesus did it as an example for us. It is a public confession of faith.
Check this out: http://www.eeinternational.org/DYKFS/English/DYK_Eng_1.htm
Basically you should understand and believe these things:
1. Heaven is a free gift-it cannot be earned or deserved.
2. Man is a sinner and cannot save himself.
3. God is merciful and doesn't want to punish us, but He is just so He must punish sin.
4. Jesus Christ was God and Man. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose from the grave to purchase a place for us in Heaven.
5. Faith in Jesus Christ is the way to Heaven. This means trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life. Rest on Christ alone and what He has done, not what you can do.
So transfer your trust to Christ, accept Him as your Savior, receive Him as Lord, and repent. If you pray these things to Him you will be saved! :-)
Romans 10:10,13 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
John 6:47 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life.
Hebrews 12:22 You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven.

You don't get saved by getting baptized. You get saved by letting him into your heart, which means let him be a part of you. Being "saved" requires a new born again life, a relationship with God. Baptism is only to show others that you acknowledge God and you are a believer.

Here's the deal. You will get different answers from different people, even if they say they are all Christian. I could add my opinion to the mix, but ultimately you need to take all of the information you get and study (look it up in the bible) and determine for yourself what will your conscience(the Holy Spirit) lead you to. I personally believe that you only need to Believe that Jesus has died for your sins and because of that fact you are Saved. I would say it would be good to pray and ask God for forgiveness for your sins, and ask Jesus into your life. He will start to change things in your life slowly, He will work with you. It is good to be baptized too. Your belief in Him is Key.

Acknowledge that you're a sinner, and you need God's forgiveness, and ask Jesus to come into your life and change you. Jesus will take your sins so that you can get to heaven. Then you need to obey God and live your life as He would in your position. Jesus said the two most important commandments were to love God with all your heart, mind and soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself. If you do those two things, you'll always be obeying God. Knowing how to do those things is a bit more complicated, but if you find other good Christians to be friends with, either in church or elsewhere, it will help you do them better.

You seem to be after different answers, so I'll tell you what I think, and I'm sure everyone else will tell you what they think.
The key to being saved is to become like Jesus. In Revelation, you see many references to the "saints who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus." In short, the saints keep God's commandments. These can be best summed up as Jesus did: "Love God above all else; and love your neighbour as yourself."
So, we need to become like Jesus. The problem is that it is human nature to do otherwise. If we try, we cannot keep the commandments of God, because Satan is too much for us. So, we have to ask God for strength, mercy and guidance, to help us to become like Him. We ask for grace and forgiveness when we slip up, something that is inevitable; and we continue to grow, so that it becomes more "out of character" to sin.
Eventually, we become like carbon copies of Jesus Christ; people who can be found all over the planet, bring hope, healing, and happiness to all. A high ideal, yes; but I've always believed in being idealistic.

If you believe that Jesus walked the earth as a man, died, rose again on the 3rd. day, that He died to take away the sin of all those who believe in Him and in that believe we are wiped as clean as a new born babe. You get saved, period. Confession and acceptance to be followed by water baptism. I have always heard it as Baptism by the Spirit and then by water. Water Baptism is an outward confession of what has happened inwardly. It is like standing up there and saying, "hey, I have changed. I am brand new. Please encourage me and help me in this new step in my life." "I love the LORD and I want to confess it to everyone!!"

To be saved you have to understand a couple things and accept one thing. You have to understand that every human being sins. The only person on this earth who never sinned was Jesus. Second you have to understand that our sins must be paid for. If we decide to pay for our sins ourselves, then we have to pay for them eternally in hell. Just like there are wages for good, there is punishment for the wrong. If you do not want to pay for your sins yourself, then you must believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay our sin debt and accept His free gift of salvation for yourself. That is it.
Baptism does NOT save you. After you are saved you should choose to be baptized to show God that you are willing to follow His will for your life. Baptism is the first sign of obedience to God. The Bible does NOT say whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord AND gets baptized shall be saved.
Not only that, but when Jesus was on the cross and the thief next to him said, " Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." Jesus replied to him and said, "verily I say unto thee, To day shall thou be with me in paradise." Jesus was telling the thief that he ( the thief) would be in Heaven with Jesus. The thief was never baptized, but believed that Jesus was the Saviour.
I hope this cleared up your question.
