Yes, I had my gall bladder removed 4 years ago. Nothing much to talk about, except the complete freedom from gallbladder colics. The complete gall bladder has to be removed and the laproscopic surgery these days is almost amounting to a daycare surgery. You start feeling fit as a fiddle in just about 5 to 7 days and can be up and about after this period (not that you remain tied to the bed during the interim). Go ahead with the surgery if you are to avoid frequent problems and sometimes complications may arise if you delay the surgergical removal of the gallstones.

I had my gall bladder out as well as about 5 other women in my family. My mother has to have hers out next month. We have gall bladder disease in the family so we have had no choice but to have them removed. I would have preferred to have kept it. I have had problems with my digestive system ever since and it has taken me ten years to find a regular eating plan that reduces the problems. That being said I would not have wanted to go through the pain of gall bladder attacks for the past ten years. You could try other options first to see if you can avoid the surgery but it comes down to quality of life. You may need to look at changing your lifestyle either way. Good luck.

Well good luck to you! Noone ever told me that having my gall bladder out would lead to lifelong digestion problems! I have to watch what I eat (NO FATS!), I burp all the time, and my liver is enlarged. My doctor didn't mention any of these problems when he recommended the surgery 10 years ago. Plus, despite only being able to eat about 4 ounces at a time and no fat, I have still gained weight. I want my gall bladder back!!!!

Both my father and my brother had theirs removed, and I know that one day mine will have to go also (hereditary thing). Two cousins also had them removed. None of these people has had anything go wrong with them, such as the digestive issues others have mentioned. While they are possible, the doctors give you good suggestions on how to avoid digestive and intestinal issues.

My father got acute pancreatitis and half the pancreas died because of a mobile gallstone which created an infection, etc. Good thing is he didn't die. He is now on insulin ... not a cool alternative to getting the blooming thing removed, if you ask me.

The pro is never having to deal with the pain again or the uncertainty. That's a heavy sell for me ... when my time comes, I will not hesitate.

I had mine removed 4 years ago and boy was I relieved. Walked around for a year with off and on horrible pain. You may need to adjust your diet after wards. But that may be good whether you have it still in you or not. Follow up with your Dr.
The good news is be glad it's not kidney stones. Not so easy to get rid of a kidney.
