wow... that's a good question. never thought of it that way. i don't really know. we're not teaching our son about santa because we feel like that kind of buries the whole reason for the season. besides, i remember when my little brother was 4 and my grandma (who THRIVES on creating controversy) told him that there was no santa. he was crushed. didn't want to see that happen to my kids.

Because many years ago there was a real man named Chris K. and he carried presents around to orphanages and families that needed thing's. I feel like it is important to keep the spirit alive by giving. My kid's are 12 and15, they know that there once was a real Santa. They also know that it's posible there is still one somewhere. They know that we give them something at Christmas. So is it harming anyone if they beleive in Santa Claus. I don't think so. I beleive in Jesus Christ our Lord but I have never seen him.

Thats good, we do for tradition sake. Some tradition is bad and some tradition is good. The Santa Claus tradition is bad in my opinion. Besides it takes away from the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ. Although , I know many of us follow many holiday traditons innocently enough, not considering the true meanings of the traditions or holidays. When it comes to tradtions, be careful when you find yourself doing something for the sake of "doing it." Always ask yourself "why am I celebrating this in this way?".

They wouldn't believe in Jesus if we didn't offer them Santa Claus at the same time.

It's all in good fun. Christmas wouldn't have been as fun for me if there was no santa, and who honeslty looks back and says, "My parents lied about Santa!!!!" It's a cultural thing

What about Santa?

gives them something to look forward to and there's nothing wrong with children having an imagination with imaginary people in it like santa clause, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, etc. i don't see the harm in it at all. there's so much nasty stuff in this world to harm or hurt children, what's wrong with giving them something soft and cuddly to believe in to make their world a little better?

it's good for kids to grow up having something to look forward to, and telling them that a jolly nice fat man that will give them presents once a year is a great thing to look forward to

i guess it's lying for the better... until they get heart broken that he got stuck in the chimney! :-(
