The guy I used to work with, asked me out 2 years ago and we've been together since. We have a 9month old daughter too :-) He stared at me all day long, requested to sit at the empty desk near me, tried to make conversation with me and most importantly, he made me laugh all day long!! He made jokes, then I started making them back. We started liking each other eventually and he felt the positive vibe too, so he asked for my home email address just so we could talk outside of work. He emailed me the same or next day, and asked if we could hang out after work one day (in other words, go out on a date). I accepted his offer, and we've been together since. But anyway, if you want to ask out a co-worker in one day maybe you should start off by asking them to lunch. See if they'll except your offer for lunch. If they do except, you might have a chance outside of work. So go to lunch with this person for a few days, then ultimately ask them out to dinner.

"Hey do you want to get a drink after work?"

I would say it takes an average of 3 seconds to say.
