Christians for you, this may be about atheists, mulims, wiccans...
Atheists for you, this would be about any theist
etc. etc.

PLEASE don't say that you wish they knew that you are right.
Try to put more thought into it.

What do they misunderstand about your beliefs, but you wish they didn't?

That my atheism has nothing to do with "anger" or "sadness" but was the result of research and personal discovery.

Why limit atheists to theists? Wiccans believe in a spirit world and Muslims believe in a creator. I believe this shows bias.

For atheists, Muslims, Wiccans and many Christians:
I wish it was understood that the creator God, Jehovah, was born in a manger 2,000 years ago, in the body of a man named Jesus. And that same Jesus walked a mile in your shoes and mine.

As the pillar of fire and the I Am, that spoke with Moses, He now occupies a kingdom made without hands, eternal in the heavens; where the elect are seated with Him, though our bodies be on earth a few moments longer.
------------
Lacking the above, I wish that all people understood that belief and faith are two totally different things and, while belief is necessary for orientation, only faith contacts God.

Put another way, faith is NOT what you believe but what you assuredly see in the corridors of time.

Being Wiccan, there are two things that I would like people to understand. Two things that are completely misrepresented in this spiritual path.

1. We do not worship an entity known as Satan thus we are not Satanists.

2. The "pentacle" the pentagram shaped, five pointed star, is not a symbol of the devil. The correct way to wear it is with the single top point of the star facing upwards. Unfortunately, Satanists co-opted the symbol and ware it upside-down. Worn that way, the bottom two points facing upwards looks like devil horns.

The one good thing that I can say about "The Da Vinci Code" is at the very least, Dan Brown tried to clear up the pentacle misconception. It is a Venus or Goddess symbol.

Go to:

For a full description of this symbol and find out why it occurs naturally in the sky every eight years.

I wish all non-believers wouldn't think all Christians are ignorant, judgmental, and all we want is to get others to believe like we do. Granted, there is a lot of judgmentalism going on, but that's not what we're about. We're not just Christians because we were raised that way or it just looks good. We don't want you to believe JUST so we feel good that you're on our side. Eternal destruction is coming for those who don't call on the name of the Lord to be saved. We're called to love the world, and so we feel compelled to try and avert this deadly consequence.

Dear devladvoc,

If I could get people of a different belief to understand ONE thing about Christianity it would be:

That the Bible is the word of God (Jesus Christ) and that He (God) saves a person from eternal damnation (which we deserve because all of us have disobeyed His commandments) through the hearing of His word ( because we all start out spiritually dead in sin) and that we can do NOTHING to receive salvation (God is Sovereign and has not chosen to save everyone).

That we don't worship the devil-

It's a big misconception that has survived through the Dark Ages, the 'Burning Times' and that wasn't in the bible to begin with- and yes, I HAVE read the bible. I was once a Christian, and it didn't ring true for me.

What I would like for people of ALL faiths to understand is that it's not about who is 'rigth' and who is 'wrong'- it is about what is true for you, and you alone. All we can do is to try to help other people understand our own personal truths. Fighting over Religion is stupid- what matters is that you have faith in your own, and the Spirituality that goes with it.

God created all the religions because God loves us all equally and wants us to come home.

I am very open to all religions and feel I can learn from all of them. I have adopted many spiritual practices from other religions, as well as my own. However, I'm not Christian and am not willing to disclose my religion here because, to a Christian, this means I am of the devil and my spiritual experiences aren't valid. I don't know that God looks the other way while Christians attack and abuse people who don't see things there way.

That Jesus came down to become man and to be a bridge between sinful man and and a holy God. He had to die to provide the blood sacrifice. Jesus is the only sinless man who ever lived, and yet, He is also God in the flesh (that's what "Immanuel" means.)

That you don't need a god to make your life fulfilling that you don't need a god to blame your problems on or your good luck. That you should above all else beleif in yourself and have faith in yourself. You are your own god. You choose your path, you choose your destiny. You have the power to change and to change the world you do not need help. You don't need an imaginary friend by your side all the time to guide you morally and intellectually you can guide yourself.

I wish they'd quit thinking I'm a witch just because I use the label Pagan. For some reason, they have this idea that if you're Pagan or even Wiccan, that it automatically makes you a witch. *Sigh*

I am not immoral or uneducated just because I am an athiest.

My beliefs have different weights than yours but are no less valid.

My morals and loyalties include but are not limited to humanity, anti-violence, community, and a general respect for the earth and its inhabitants. (That includes you.)

I hope that sums it up.
