No I don't like that expression. I think it is because I am not a morning person and don't like having an alarm wake me up. Means I didn't get enough sleep so there usually is no good in my mornings.

Actually when I just get to work, I am not sure if it will be a good morning so I would be happy with just morning.

Yes, I do. Always greet everyone Good Morning with a smile- it just might make their day. Like passing on a little sunshine.

Yeah, of course if it is abbreviated to 'morning, that works too. It's a bit of a pick me up that I'm being wished well at a time when I need all the positive energy I can get.

There is never anything good about the morning, aside from the fact that I woke up.

Its useful as a general and polite greeting earlier on in the day. You can use it just as well with a complete stranger as with a person you know well. We need little phrases like that just to ease along our interaction with people, to acknowledge someone, or to start off a conversation or meeting.

not really! because how does the person who is issuing that greeting really know if you are having a good morning?

Yes. It is a simple greeting which acknowledges the other person(s) present. It is acceptable as is, or it can easily be followed up with more personal remarks.
