Sanctions will have a financial effect. The effect will not be massive as Iran is already ignored by many of the economic super powers. The thing that wil;l hurt is gasoline they have to import there gas they don't have a gasoline refinery just an oil refinery. There response will quickly crush the sanctions when they stop exporting there oil. The Chinese will have to buy more oil from everybody else's reserves which will drive prices quit literally through the roof. then the gas pump pain at home will force the govt to drop sanctions. It's probable china won't let the sanctions go through as it is not in there interest to pay mega bucks for oil. So this speculation is probably moot. As for bombing Iran the pentagon has grown a backbone and told the president it's a bad idea. No weapon in the current inventory can dig deep enough to get to the nuke sites and we don't know where they all are or how they are laid out an essential part of any plan to knock out an under ground complex. So I don't see this happening without the pentagon having a showdown with the president and with the presidents loooowww numbers the pentagon would win that debate easy.

Chances are, sanctions will have less affect on Iran then they did on Libya. In the case of Libya, it took a few years to get them into the fold, but eventually they did capitulate due to sanctions.
Iran is good buddies with Russia and China, and a few arab states around the region. Since they are already joined at the hip with Russia, it's doubtful that Russia or China will allow shortages to prevail.
War is somewhat doubtful at this time, unless Iran does something really stupid. So far, they have calculated their every move so as not to give anyone the justification for an attack, on their nuclear sites.

I really don't think sanctions will work with Iran...They are going to play the oil card...And I really don't think UN will give any sanction to Iran,'cos they are going to be vetoed by Russia and China...
Now war with Iran will be a really stupid thing...so,yes,Bush might attack Iran...But it will be lost from the start,'cos I really don't think US has the financial and human resources to start a third war...Especially now, when the things are going worst in Afghanistan and Iraq...
I think ,now,Iran does not represent a threat...

Sanctions will do nothing to Iran other than allow her enough time to build nuclear weapons while we foolishly think that sanctions are effective...
Hopefully USA & Israel undertake a coordinated pre-emptive military strike to destroy Irans nuclear facilities & capacity before Iran develops nuclear weapons...
