Hi - pushing the elevator button does not make it arrive faster but time seems to go by faster because you were busy doing something and your serotonin levels were increased due to the physical activity!

No of course not. I guess it's just the impatience... that perhaps we'll get there faster. Even if we know it's not, we still do it in case.
I don't care, I never give it a thought why... I find it interesting to stand in an elevator with a stranger moving up/down the building... I start talking to the people. I'm 16 and when I see a little kid enjoying/scared of the mini ride - I tend to make them smile. They love talking to me and I always enjoy seeing the warm smiles or the sudden 'click' when they realize how it works.
Having said that, ignorance and impatience is the answer.
Regards! - M.B.

NO pushing the elevator button does not make it arrive faster. I think people do because they are in a hurry and its a nervous thing.

Yes. absolutely it does. If you press it an infinite number of times, the elevator will arrive before you even get there.

No but if someone pushes it in between on its way from 1 floor to 10 floor it stops so people keep pushing so it directly comes to the 10 floor from 1 floor for example

People push the button more than once because we are impatient. Yet, if it takes a long time, we'd rather complain than walk up a couple flights of stairs... because we are LAZY!
