That is a very tough age to be overweight. Don't go the diet pills route. They are not healthy. If you can, talk to your doctor for advice. These are some tips that have worked for me and also for my daughter when she was about your daughter's age. If you follow the same routines with her it might help her.
1. Eat three nutritious meals and three snacks everyday. Cut out junk food. She probably needs about 1500 to 1800 calories a day.
2. Drink lots of water - at least 8 big glasses as day. Stop drinking soda.
3. Begin a simple weight lifting program at home. Ordinary household items (tins of soup, for example) can serve as weights for beginners.
4. Buy her and yourself a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day.
5. Have her record everything she eats and all her exercise to make sure she has a "calorie deficit". Two of the sites I've included will help you do that.
6. Park at the back of the parking lot instead of close to the door. Always use stairs - never the elevator or escalator.
7. A mini stepper is an easy piece to equipment to have at home and gives great results. I bought mine at a second hand store for $4.
I hope these thoughts help. Good luck with it. She can do it!!

I would say no to the diet pills because I think they do more damage than good. Maybe you guys can workout together. Studies show that people are more likely to stick with a workout when they have group support. Giving encouraging words work too. Tell your daughter that she is beautiful no matter what but explain to her certain risk that are associated with being over weight.

my suggestion would be to join a gym and go with her change her diet buy nothing but healthy foods , take all the bad stuff u have out of your house . to get her to move and be interested after a wk of doing so and she doesnt lose anything the first week try buying a pair of jeans that will be baggy on her take the tag out and sow on a smaller size tag , try to make her feel good and that will make her want to lose more and make her modavated . then take those pants and trash them cause she aint gonna need them after that . she will be losing pounds and sizes before you know it ! but jsut remeber mommy take it one day at a time make sure she wants this for herself not because u are pushing her ! and before you know it your daughter will be a happy healthy young lady ! but u have to stick with her by her side through it all , it will get rough at times , work out 30 mins a day , cut out sodas , junk food . drink plenty of water, exspecially ice cold water it tends to speeed up your metabolizum . and another thing to boost her spritits is , asking her if she would like a makeover , let her cut her hair or dye it or whatever let her choose an outfit or two let someone do her makeup .that should boost her confadince in no time ! best of luck to ya , and please email me with your results on how she is doing ...

Find her motivation....does she want something....money, a trip, how about the fact that she's almost 16 and ready to drive....what about a car or used car for her if you can afford it and she reaches like 150 pounds...set goals for her and give her a reason to strive to reach the goals....once she looses about 20 pounds she'll feel better and want to keep going...my advice: stay away from diet pills...they are just another drug and can really send the wrong message to a kid...there is no pill that really fixes everything!

Please do not give her diet pills! Try to interest her in a physical activity, such as dancing, gymnastics, a sport. If you are buying healthy food and encouraging her to stay active, you are doing your part. 15 year olds are going through growth spurts and lots of body changes, so try not to make her feel bad if she's a little full-looking. If you are concerned about morbid obesity, consult a doctor. And try to help her feel beautiful all the time.

Well this is YOUR daughter, if she is over weight then you can can change it..
You do the cooking right? Cook healthy foods for your family and go out to the gym WITH your daugter, She will have more motivation if you are going with her..
Do fun things together like hikeing and playing tennis, swiming..
Dont give her any diet pills they dont work and they are also not good for her..
Good luck !!!

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be

Take her to weight watchers. They will motivate, help her. Its a fantastic program for anyone at any age. Under 16 need a doctors note, but any doctor will happily do it for you.

Tell her that you're really tired of hearing her say that she's fat and ugly. I also have to say, I think maybe you might be enabling her. Somehow, you're allowing her to wallow in self pity. Also, you're giving her the food that she's eating. Are you exercising with her? You're her role model. If role model is eating bad and lounging around in the couch, she'll do it too.

I believe this is one of those things where it's only going to happen if she wants it to happen. In the meantime, she will continue to feel sorry for herself and try to win the pity of others. Is she also suffering from depression? If you get her to see the doc, perhaps he/she can make some suggestions on how to proceed.
