I am not sure where you are going or have gone to church, but you need to go somewhere else! Jesus hung out with liars, thieves, lepers, rapists, murderers, whores, etc... Jesus loves us all - and hung on that cross and died for us so that no matter what our past holds we could be forgiven. You have been forgiven and all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior and your past is - well, a thing of the past. You have nothing but wonderful things to gain by turning your life over to our ever loving God! Good Luck - find yourself a church that isn't full of hypocrites! God does love you!

That is our sinful nature, it that is not what being a Christian is about. Do you know that once we make decisions the consequences can last a lifetime.
You have unprotected, well you can have a baby or something that could kill, they don't go away because you have changed.
You drink and drive, you hurt or kill yourself or someone else. Saying your sorry doesn't heal the person or bring them back, or keep you out of jai.
You have to except your consequences, and prove to people that you have changed. Words are cheap. People, especially us Christians, should be open to giving you a second chance. After all that is why I am a Christian, I make so many mistakes I could never make it to heaven on my own.
Maybe find a different chuch, where people don't know you. When I see someone new at church I always go and great them, introduce myself and have my kids do the same things. I want them to feel embraced and welcome.
God is not present in all churches, sometimes He gets put on the back burner, without them realizing it.
God does love you, and I will pray that you find a good home church. Bless you, and way to go on trying to better yourself, I know that is not always easy.

That is called pride and arrogance which should not be in a Christian church. If you came into a church where I was, I can assure you that you would be welcome and would not be put down by me. There are some in any church that will be that way, too good for any of the lesser folk. But if you read in the bible, they are the ones that will be on the outside when the time comes for the reward of the wicked. Keep on studying and find another church that will be accepting of you. It will happen if you just keep on looking. check out the site below for study helps.

Religion is a beautiful assortment of laws and rules for your neighbor to live by and a holy, loving way to condemn other people to eternal damnation. Or maybe people are just idiots. As proof of the second possibility, almost half of the voters in the U.S. voted to have an idiot for president- twice.
I'm sorry for the bad experience you have had with Xtians. If you are a sincere person, God loves you. Idiots, however, remain idiots no matter what. The message of Jesus was about repentance (changing your life for the better), forgiveness (release from mistakes of the past) and love (consideration for others). People who hate are people who don't understand the concept. People who won't forgive are people who don't get it. People who won't allow a person to make a positive change truly don't know what Christianity is about.
Love God- that's the easy part.
Love your neighbor- that's more difficult, but the love of God makes it a little easier.
Good luck.

In any religion, any where you go, you will have some of these church goers acting like this. They are usually the ones who think they are so righteous that they are way above any one else and have nothing to do with non-believers. They are probably the Sunday , Easter and Christmas worshippers. Other days they act us non-Christians. And you'll never see them in church community work. They come to church to be blessed and receive the benediction.
I usually just let them be themselves. But I will not be put off by their actions or discrimination towards me. Remember we are suppose to have a servant heart so just be a good Christian for God as you are working for God and his glory and not to gain respect from these people. Become a church greeter or usher (and I would love to see their faces :) Be a change catalyst for the church, where it should be warm, caring and loving towards members irrespective of your looks, background or financial status.

OK, this sounds like a genuine question, so first off, you don't go to church to "get saved." That's entirely between you and Jesus, and no one else can dictate that. Furthermore, "getting saved" is about being FORGIVEN... and when Jesus forgives you, it's as if your past sins never existed. You go to church to help build up your relationship with Him. That being said, I don't think it's OK for those people to keep bringing up your past, and condemning you for it. It's not their job to judge; that's entirely up to God... and He has already forgiven you, so whatever you did, it doesn't have to matter. Especially if you're not doing it anymore.
I would be cautious about blaming everything you've just said on Christianity because of what you experiecned in ONE church. Perhaps you should try another church that is more understanding.

Honey when you go to church it doesn't mean you have enter the heaven above of course you will come across some people that are not so strong and some that are strong in the Lord. Hang out with the ones that are more stronger in the Lord, cause' maybe the ones you had experience your faith with are still infant themselves in the spirit. I hope you get some good people and more stronger than the ones you talked about. God bless you

Hi Staci.
First of all, if people go to church because they think they're going to be saved are wrong! Just because their name is in the attendance books does not mean it is in God's book called the Book of Life.
If you were a "bad" person before, it is only natural for parents to not want their children to hang out with you in fear that you will be a bad influence.
Look at Saul. He was a persecutor of God's people. He was a murderer! But what did God do? He had a purpose for Saul who He later named Paul. Do you think Paul was accepted immediately? NO WAY. People were afraid that he would kill them. However, due to Paul's conversion (TRUE CONVERSION) people started to see that Paul really was a man of God and accepted him. Please give people some time.
Take care and God Bless.

You may be a bit defensive. I am fully aware of the hypocrites at Church. First, when you entered Church, were you dressed modestly? If not, remember that that is Gods house and you must be modest. Going to Church and Bible study do not a Christian make. Read your Bible, keep your faith. But remember, your "looks" are for the street, not Church.
P.S. If you wan to be a good Christian, pray for the others and please dress modestly. You should save something for your husband. Church is NOT a fashion show.

Not all churches are like that. At my parents church they have a variety of speakers with all different kinds of past speak about how they came to find Jesus. Some of their stories are really really horrible and some are not so bad, but all of them are things that are "not ok" in the eyes of the church and they are not judged by the things that they did before they became Christian.
