heard of in the bible.

Because God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one, united. When we accept Jesus, God's Love and Salvation, God gives us the Gift of the Holy Ghost, then the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will live in us and we too can become one with God. This is called the Trinity, which we can apply to our salvation. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we get a new Spirit, we are at that moment, saved. When we make Jesus our Lord, this means our soul is in the process of being saved. And finally, if we remain faithful to Jesus, then our bodies will be saved.
To answer the question, the reason why we pray in Jesus name. We pray in the name of Jesus, because it is what Jesus has done on the cross that imputes God's righteousness unto us. It is the name of Jesus that gives us the authority to enter God's presence boldly and with assurance. That is why it is an insult to a Christian to be denied to use the name of Jesus when we pray.

Christians hold that there is one God, and that Jesus was a part of that one God, by which the one God chose to reveal to humanity. John 1:1 states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." The book makes clear that "the Word" which it refers to was Jesus, in it's statement in verse 14 that, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."
This multi-faceted approach to how God reveals Himself to humanity is not a foreign concept to Jews or Muslims. For instance, Genesis 1 states, "1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." Again this concept can be seen throughout the Petateuch, and it's reference to the "Word of the Lord". See e.g. Gen 15:4. And again, in Genesis 18's account of the 3 visitors, one traditionally being considered Deity. None of these examples were deemed to be in contradiction to a monotheistic belief.

Hello sandy
This answer is not written as an insult to anyone. I only provide the scriptures to give to you a true answer from your bible. Never believe anyone, not me, not preachers, not the pope, not anyone. Believe the Bible. 1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. One example. The christian world tell us that Jesus was placed in th tomb just prior to sun down on Friday, and rose from the tomb early Sunday morning. That is two nights and one day. Jesus said. Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The true answer is in the bible. He was not placed in the tomb on Friday.
The answer to your question is as follows.
Deu 5:12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee
Joh 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Jam 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Your question is mute, there is 2.1 billion Christians, all of whom keep Sunday the first day of the week for the Sabbath which is the seventh day of the week. According to the above scriptures, God does not hear them. Are the above scripture lies?
1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Do have a good day.

It's all over the place in the New Testament. There is no other way to the Father but by me. Words of Christ himself. I am the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but by me. I am the door, Narrow is the gate and the road that lead to life and few find it but wide is the door and the road that lead to destruction and many find it. We pray in Jesus name because in Hebrews it says He's the mediator between us and the Father. Jesus is like our deffence attourney litterally. He takes our prayers, needs, and our causes before the Father God. Yes we can pray to the Father but when we pray in Jesus name it brings closure to the prayer and also let's God know that we believe in who Jesus was here on earth and who He is in Heaven. Jesus is our High Priest. Check it out in Hebrews.

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all the same being that we normally just call "God". God has three parts but the parts are not separate entities. It's hard to explain but even harder to understand. I don't fully understand some parts of this myself. It's hard for human beings to wrap their minds around. The way I understand it, though, is that if you pray to Jesus you are praying to one part of the same God. I don't think it really matters which name (God or Jesus) that you use when you pray. The key is knowing that you are praying to the Lord, the one true God.

Jesus said follow me and ask all things in my name and they will be granted. That means to the Christian if they are following the discipline of Jesus all things asked will fall within that discipline and will be granted.
No that doesn't mean you can ask for a Lamborghini Diablo in Jesus name and you will get one. Why? I could be snide and say because Jesus walked everywhere he went so wanting to ride isn't following the discipline of Jesus. But I won't.
Jesus did things to help others and our requests should be framed as to how we can help others. That Diablo would be selfish. And someone who took the form of man and died for the sins of others as an example of how far we should go for others definitely wasn't selfish.

Jesus is God who became man to save us. It is hard to understand. It has to do with Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, 3 in 1. YOu can actually pray to both, but I know in church we usually pray to the Heavenly Father.
I don't get why Catholics pray to Mary, instead of God or Jesus.

Jesus isn't just the son of God, Jesus is the ONLY BEGOTTEN son of God.
This means that Jesus is composed of the same essence as his Father, who is God, so Jesus is also God, just as you are begotten of your parents, share their essence, and are also human.
Jesus always existed in eternity with this Father, but chose to also be born a man, here on earth, in order to save us from our sins.
Even though he became truly man, he never ceased to be truly God.
Today, Jesus dwells in heaven, with a glorified human body, human blood, and human soul, as well as his godly and eternal divinity, seated at the right hand of his Father, as king of heaven, and also as the sinless and triumphant leader of all mankind ... King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Jesus will return at the end of the age, with all the angels and all the saints, to finally and definitively destroy death and sin, to raise all to glory, and to judge all to their eternal reward or punishment.
All this is the will of the triune God; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Son of God, does not mean lesser then God. In our vonacular it does, but son of in sripture means : extention of.
Jesus has a different role then the father but they are equal in substance. Just like a man and a woman are equal as persons, but have different roles(although todays society has tried to change that). Jesus said, "ask anything in my name , and I will do it". This is a spiritual mystery of course. Peace.
