Because many pizza places also make square pizzas -- the pan variety. And it's easy to put a circle into a square box, but not a square into a circle box, so they only need one shape box for BOTH shapes of pizza.

BTW, Dominoes boxes have rounded corners.

Because you would have to make the box so much bigger and take up even more space to get a square pizza in a round box!!!!

Making a round box would be very difficult. It would have to be like a candy box with a separate cover and very expensive to product. The current pizza box is just a flat piece of carboard that is cut and folded.

Its the shape & raw materials which decide the sturdyness of a cotainer. In the case of pizza box, which is square shaped, is made of corrgated paper. Round edged is no big deal, but its the transport factor here, which finally square is preferred.

If you see the cargo containers, be it surface mode, sea mode or by means of air transport,it will be either square shaped or rectangle shaped. The contents of these containers can be anything, of any shape. Stacking, forwarding and delivery is quite easy in the square/rectangle containers.

Because if they spent all the money on making a round pizza box, it would jack the price of the pizza up, it's too expensive already!
