Shih Tzus need the optimum nutrition in every bite, so you don't want to waste their small stomach capacity with fillers...You won't find a good food for them at your grocer's.. I recommend Canidae, Innova, Wellness, Wysong, or Solid Gold...these offer the best and most digestible nutrition..They can be found at most pet supply shops..
Shih Tzu are plagued with health issues, so the great building blocks in these kibbles will help her to have a healthier old age..

My shih tzu is extremely picky, I had the hardest time finding something she will eat, (she's even picky with people food). I am pretty sure this is not the best food for a dog but the ONLY one she'll eat is Cesar. It comes in little plastic containers and is pretty expensive. There are many different flavor choices, including, filet mignon, porterhouse steak, turkey, lamb and so on. My sister has a shih tzu who also didn't like dog food, but she loves the Cesar! Good luck, Shih Tzu's are the best!

wow, I guess I'm lucky. My Shih Tzu (9 years old) has eaten Pedigree dog food from day one. However, when she was a puppy, we'd obviously feed her the puppy food, and we'd also add water to it to make it softer. She's been on it ever since!

Good luck! Shih tzus are spastic and amazing when they're young. I love my dog with all my heart!

Ask your Vet, But he will say something that does not have BY-Products in it.I'm a vet tech. By products are the left overs of food, Not the good stuff. I had shih tzus growing up. You are better off asking your vet.

I say feed a food that you can reasonably afford and what works for you and your dogs. We feed Pedigree, but we also have 2 large dogs and 2 small dogs. It works for them, they are healthy and it's not terribly expensive. Some dogs do well on lesser foods, some don't. Our dogs get the runs from Old Roy, but yet my mother-in-law's dogs do not. So this is why I say feed what you can reasonably afford and what works for you and your dogs. To andthentherewasyael, How would you know how my dogs are on Pedigree? Have you seen my dogs at all? I assure you, that it works just fine for them. The two large breed dogs I have are a Siberian Husky and an Alaskan Malamute. The Malamute has been commented on how soft her fur is and how much it just shines and how healthy it is. Same with the Husky, their fur is healthy, they are healthy as are the two smaller dogs. If you notice I said what works for you and your dog, if you tried pedigree and it didn't work, that doesn't mean that for someone else's dog(s) the same result will occur.
