people have been giving to cancer for years and years but still no break-through, where is all that money going?

There is no single cure for "cancer". Each type of cancer (and there are many) usually requires its own treatment or cure. Even then, it is very difficult to cure because the cancer cells are your own cells, and so the trick is to find a treatment that kills the cancerous "self" cells without killing the normal "self" cells. This is not the case in many other diseases caused by foreign cells (bacteria), virus, or parasites. In those cases, the pathogens are recognized as non-self and killed more easily. As stated in other answers, there are curing treatments to several types of cancers.

It is unfortunate that there is a health care industry that takes advantage of the sick. The medical industry, insurance companies, lobbyists, and politicians do indeed display the greed and power to accomplish this gouging at some level. However, pharmaceutical companies and those who stand to profit most (financially) are NOT the ones doing most of the research. Research is done primarily by basic academic scientists, who are often poorly funded, and stand little chance to profit personally. Finally, to sort of defend the companies a little, the strict standards set by the FDA required for drug approval results in years, possibly decades of animal and clinical human trials before any drug even comes to market. The pharm industry invests millions perhaps billions each year. Following FDA approval, the company has usually a 7 year patent to re-coup these losses before the drug becomes available as a generic.

The truth is that cancer money is really going to that research. Has anybody taken a tour of a cancer research facility here or even work in one? If you have then and only then can you comprehend the immense costs of testing durgs then filing for patents and making sure it is safe as determined by the FDA and other national and international health safety watchdog groups. I for one am grateful for the dedication of the time that these pharmacologists put in because it is their work that will provide someday a cure for more diseases. To the statement that there is a cure for cancer but it will never be released under the pretense of losing their jobs that is preposterous. There will always be work for these individuals for the fight against all illnesses is a never ending struggle. Also the process for creating possible cures takes a very very long time. It's not like making mom's cookies where you toss a bit of this and a bit of that and presto you have a great end result. I hope i have answered your question and if you would like to know more google "cancer research" with the quotes included and you will learn for yourself everything you will ever want to know

Research for anything is costly. And figuring out what causes something takes time. You can't just say, okay, i think cancer is caused by tomatoes, and feed people tomatoes and see cancer growing in a week. It takes years and years of clinical trials, testing, and other things to come up with one fact about a disease, sickness or anything else.

To think that there hasn't been a single break-though, your crazy. For some cancers, or even other diseases, we have learned which gene in our DNA it resides. That is the biggest leap we try for. When we find that, we can alter that gene specifically and try to get it to become cancer. Then eliminate senarios that didn't affect it, and so on. It is a very long process.

The most of the money goes to legal fees. Needless to say, thanks to the government and people against stem-cell research, we cannot take that big leap and try to alter genes to get to the cure because people think it is unethical.

If you would like to know what we do to get a stem cell, and where we go from there for research, please just ask.

Cancer is caused by a very toxic environment and sometimes can be arrested through building up your immune system and general health in very specific ways (see garynull.com), and yes, there are medical advances to be sure, but on the whole, I don't think it would be a good idea to wait for that magic cure, because the sickness-industry is just too lucrative, and doesn't want to be put out of business. Ugly but true.

they donate because it is a worthy cause. There won't be a
"cure discovered" as long as the donated money is not tied to
results. The people working in the cancer industry cannot
"discover a cure" without terminating their jobs. As soon as
a "cure is discovered", the donations can stop and their jobs
are finished. So in order to keep their paychecks coming, they
have to "keep working on a cure".

It keeps changing it characteristics which makes it very hard to get rid of. Cancer cells change all the time from one thing to another type, so finding a cure for that single cell is hard.

Certainly a cure is being researched, but you should know that many so-called charities have so many administration costs, they're not even worth supporting. Check out a charity before giving any money to them, some of their top execs aren't worth what they're being paid.
