What causes people to cheat? Are they just born with the trait to cheat or is it that it is something learned at over time. Personally I believe that people cheat because they get impatient looking for the "one" that they end up settling with someone that really does not satisfy their intrest.

Actually, cultural (i.e. religious and social) pressures are what keep us from cheating. Or from cheating more than we do.

A fair percentage of men (I forget the exact number) cheat on their mates, and the number of women cheaters is almost as high. It's a universal trait, found all over the world. From an evolutionary perspective, cheaters have something to gain. Men send more of their genes into the next generation. Women get a different mix of genes for their children, increasing the chances that more will survive and reproduce. Bottom line: that's what "fitness" is all about: insuring that your genes survive and multiply.

True, there are more faithful couples than cheaters, but the drive to seek sexual novelty is deeply rooted.

Well it all depends on how you were raised to a point. If it is thought of as being okay to cheat then that is what they know. And some people don't consider what they are doing as cheating. And then there are those that aren't satisfied with what they have and go ahead and cheat hopeing the situation for them will change

I believe that it is a learned behavior caused by a combination of environment and desire. Babies are born with no knowledge of such things, and behavior in any area of cheating arises from conceived need, whether real or not. There is also the "thrill" of engaging in prohibited behavior, which is appealing to some people.

I think people cheat because they don't really want to be with the person they are with so they don't care. Personally if someone didn't want to be with me and were going to cheat I'd rtaher have a random phone call a minute before they were gonna cheat to tell me that we were over. To me that's respect. I say if you don't respect someone and cheat on them why should anyone else have the same respect for you? I also think that if you really cared about the person you were with you wouldn't cheat on them and if you were going to you'd ave the courtesy and respect to break up with them before you did.

people choose to cheat because they are not satisfied with just one person they want to see how many girls or boys they can get. I personally don't see the reason for cheating but whatever. That's a choice people make!!!!!

Cheating is a instinct. Look at everyother animal on earth. For men, it raises their chances of speading thier seed. For women, it lessens the chance of infanticide.
