It's always free to go into the Cathedral, the only charges are for access to the Dome or the Crypt, and as you can see, even those charges shouldn't be enough to discourage all but the poorest folk from seeing both these architectural marvels.

If you can't afford 15 francs then sit in the Cathedral and pray for your sorry self!

Ouverture: Basilique: 6h45-23h, Dôme et crypte: 9h-18h - Nocturne : Basilique: 23h
Tarifs: Basilique : accès libre - Dôme, crypte: 15 F - Réd. : Dôme et crypte: 8 F

Another "not free" spot you should visit if you are going to Paris as a tourist is the Catacombs; Paris is rather small, acreage-wise, so they can't afford to waste space on too many graves. Consequently every once in a while they dig all the bones up out of the cemetaries and put them in a series of tunnels deep beneath the streets of Paris. For a few francs you can go down there and see what Martha Stewart might do to the walls of tunnels if she had thousands of ribs, thigh-bones and skulls to work with!
