Hydrogen peroxide is good stuff, but this instance is actually making it worse because the ear doesn't dry out and the bacteria continues to thrive in the moist folds and under the dead skin layers. All the hydrogen peroxide does is kill live cells in your ear AND bacteria mutates / adjusts for it AND the bacteria as the opportunity to attack more live tissue exposed by the hydrogen peroxide

At this stage, all you can do is have your doctor prescribe antibotics and a topical additive via perscription or risk loosing your hearing.

In the future, anticipate the infection by understanding how your ear feels when it is being challenged. Usually it is because your ears are wet for extended periods of time without being rinsed out. A good maintenance treatment/wash is a mixture of 91% alcohol with a couple drops of hydrogen peroxide and optionally a couple drops of white vinegar and soak for just a few minutes in each ear and afterward let the ears dry out completely as fast as possible. Try to keep your ears dry if they have no reason to be wet.

hydrogen peroxide should only be used in necrotic (pus filled) wounds because it kills the good cells along with the bad cells. overuse of hydrogen peroxide has been linked with cancer, so use it only if you have to- and definitely never in your ear!

for an ear infection, go to the doctor for anti-bacterial treatments. and in the future, you can prevent ear infections by:

use a q-tip to clean only the outside of the ear. never dig down into the ear because the cotton fibers can come off the q-tip, absorb water, and create infection.

do not blow your nose hard and if you have allergies or a cold, take medicine for it. sinus drainage can travel into the inner and middle ear, causing infections.

Half vinegar, half water will be better. I busted ear drum doctor said it was better for ear than peroxide. Flush ear out 2-3 times a day.

Try Algeran before you try peroxide. You will most likel cause your skin to become too dry in your ear. You can evern try swimmer's ear which has alcohol in in to dry up any feeling you might have of fluid i your ear. If it is an "infection" you'll need an antibiotic.
