Here's a good website on the subject:

http://www.vexen.co.uk/religion/christianity_types.html

An excerpt from the above:

If we were to guess which group was the more austere, holy and godly, we would have to guess it was the Ebionites rather than the Pauline Christians who slaughtered, slandered and oppressed them. Unfortunately the victors get to write history, and it is Pauline Christianity that became the legacy of the Roman Empire. After the fourth century, the Ebionites were vanquished>

Good question!
The originals had to be Jews who converted to Christianity since they were the only ones being invited in until 36 A.D.
The first NON-Christian was a fellow named Cornelius (a Roman).
He is mentioned in Acts 10:24-34.
Since Peter was sent to ralk with him, Peter would be one of your so-called Top preachers.
Acts 8:26 refers to a chap named Phillip.
Titus 1:5 shows a young man named Timothy to be a 'biggie'.
Since the teachings of Jesus urge humility and meekness, it is understandable that these fellows did not hold themselves up as 'biggies'.
They just quietly went about their business.

You ask too much. 300 years of info? READ A BOOK!!!

Great history of the time in The Jesus Papers. Also, Check Holy Blood, Holy Grail.

Youve got the Zealots (just prior to Jesus' birth, and afterwards as well), Ebionites, and then youve got all the Church elders (Eusubius, Bishop of Cesaria - what a character....doctored letters to look like Jesus rwrote them, based dogma off these fake letters), Iraneus (yet another fool....chose four gospels because there are only four cardinal directions and only four elements on earth...) The list goes on and on...

for my area, this relies upon on what you like out of life and how you employ your faith or loss of in god. My grandparents have been non secular, and that they have been remarkable human beings. They have been very lots enjoyed via the completed community, and while they finally have been moved to a nursing abode, they have been enjoyed via group and different citizens to boot. They in no way inflicted their evaluations approximately faith onto every physique, they have been only remarkable being concerned human beings and finally have been enjoyed all around. notwithstanding if or not they have been academically clever (they could desire to have been, my dad and Uncle are ridiculously clever, as is my youthful sister, and in college i grew to become into above elementary too), they accomplished delight and contentment in life. this is a great thank you to stay if that's what you're finding for in life. on the different hand, my dad is an atheist and is as I mentioned, ridiculously clever. He has a physics degree, he's familiar with desktops and pc programming greater beneficial than every physique i've got met, he's had a valuable occupation working for businesses which contain BT and T cellular, he constantly teaches himself new issues to do with computing (he's likewise a self-taught internet dressmaker), he's familiar with various psychology and has been coaching himself hypnotism. My grandparents have been non violent and enjoyed, my dad is slightly an *** yet he has some dazzling, hilarious thoughts to tell and there is no denying his academic skills. He did not desire a non violent life, he wanted relaxing in his youthful years and to make adequate money to constantly help his own kinfolk in his older years. you additionally can get stupid non secular human beings and atheists although. i think of various religious human beings come out with junk, yet i've got considered some fairly fool solutions from atheists at right here too.

Acts 9:1-19 is most powerful conversion in the Bible....This is how Paul the apostle got his name....birth name Saul(of Tarsus)

AC 9:1 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"

AC 9:5 "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked.
"I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. 6 "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

AC 9:7 The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. 8 Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. 9 For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

AC 9:10 In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, "Ananias!"
"Yes, Lord," he answered.

AC 9:11 The Lord told him, "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight."

AC 9:13 "Lord," Ananias answered, "I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name."

AC 9:15 But the Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name."

AC 9:17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord--Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here--has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit." 18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, 19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus. 20 At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. 21 All those who heard him were astonished and asked, "Isn't he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn't he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?" 22 Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.

People who believed in Christ were first called Christians in Antioch....these were most likely Greeks.

Acts 11:25-26...When Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

Saul...now Paul......Acts 13:9...9 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, 10 "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? 11 Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun."

Christianity was not all that popular after JC - it was just one of several competing religions just as JC was one of several versions of the Messiah available. Christianity only became well established when Constantine selected it as his favorite religion around 330 AD.

The true answers to you questions are lost in the mists & confusion of time during the Roman rule of Judea at that time. All we have are the gospels and new testament accounts and they are in no way reliable historical documents as all reputable theologians know.
