Pozzallo (sp?) in Sicily.
Beautiful, quiet, gorgeous beach and un-spoilt. lots of culture and real Italy.

ANYWHERE, especially during August when there are Festas in the small towns and villages.
Also during the grape harvest, the truffle season (Piedmonte, Umbria and Le Marche) etc.
Recipes vary not just from region to region but valley to valley etc. Food a Agriturism establishments can be superb - and without the fuss of cuisine minceur etc. The Slow Food movement is worth following in Italy.
Go into the local tourist office - Pro Loco and ask.
Enjoy - and remember to take exercise to burn off the inevitable excesses!

Do you trust an Italian?!? So I can suggest you to travel in Tuscany.
If you want to find nice seaside, you can choose something between Livorno and Grosseto: Cecina, San Lorenzo, Castiglioncello (this is very famous, a bit expensive but there you can find also night life), Castiglione della Pescaia (very nice one!)
Starting from one of those sea resorts, you can move to big cities such as Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Grosseto... or simply travel in inland and enjoy the beautiful landscape!
At last you can eat very well almost everywhere. Typical courses are "Caciucco" (some sort of fish soup) and everything which contains wild boar... very tasty!!!
If you need more information, do not hesitate to contact me by mail! I will be pleased to help you! ;)

That depends on how long you plan to visit and how you plan to travel there. As many above have pointed out, Venizia is a good place to start, then drive to Verona, to Milano, Firenza, across to Bologna, down to Pesaro and Ancona, back across to Roma, down to Napoli, over to Capri (hydoplane boats), down to Sorrento, up to Mt. Vesuvia or wherever your heart takes you.
Travelling by Italorail is a little less expensive that renting a car.l
You can get on and off whenever you please.
Every city has its own unique flavor and cuisine. Just enjoy every city wherever you end going.

You must visit Venezia, Firenze e Roma. if you have a lot of days I suggest you also Padova, tha Costiera Amalfitana (near Napoli) and the Cinque Terre (near Genova). But if you wnat to go on holidays near the sea Calabria is the best! ...If you are alone stay far from Napoli and Bari.... it's not very good...
