i totally agree with both of the answers. I had a yellow lab that was the friendliest to everyone until my husband cousin came to the house and he wouldn't let him in past the front door. The cousin later was found to be stealing from family and friends.

Does he know the people he barks at or are they strangers? A dog will bark at someone who's smell he doesn't recognize. Also dogs pick up on a person's fear really fast, so if these people are afraid of your dog, that will make him bark at them.

Dogs have good hunches about people... They know whether you a good person or bad so he must know some of youre visitors a nice and some are naughty...

It is because he feels things you cannot see. Either the guests he barks at are frightened by your dog and he knows it or they are a bad person inside, where we can't see it but a dog can sense it.

Normally it'll be because the dog doesn't recognise the smell. If someone who smells of something familiar comes to your house, he'll more relaxed. It could also be to do with how people react to your dog. If they're scared your dog will react differently.
