IT'S SPELLED HICCUPS. There is really no cure.

Hiccups are caused by an inordinate 'carbonate' level in teh blood. The body tries to condence this by putting pressure in the way of using the diaphragm.

I've found the best way to get rid of hiccoughs (alternate spelling) is to hold your breath for 60 seconds. The blood circulates entirely through the body every 60 seconds, and by reducing the air to the blood you force it to condense what is alreayd there.

When you let your air out at the end of 60 seconds, let the air out slowly, using your diaphragm to push the air out. I hold a pillor or towell over my mouth and blow the air out forcefully and slowly. Keep going until y our lungs are totally empty. You will feel the need to cough, but swallow slowly and take in air slowly.

This never fails me.

what i have done since i was a kid to get rid of hiccups is ask someone to hold a cup so you can drink from it while plugging your ears. If you're alone, you can take a lightweight cup and put it on the edge of a counter and plug your own ears.

Another way i found works it eating a spoonful of peanut butter. because its so thick, it stops the hiccups.

All the above are rubbish.

The best way tried and tested is:

1. Drink a mouthful of water but keep it in your mouth (dont swallow it)

2. Remaining standing and bend your waist down (like taking a bow). Bend as low as you can (upside down is best).

3. Swallow the water while upside down. Try it twice if first time doesnt work. After 2x it should be gone.

4. Good luck and vote me as best answer.

My high school science teacher says this, so it has to be right. you get a bottle of water, tilt your head back, breathe out I think, and chug down as much water as you can. All the air bubbles at the bottom of your stomach which caused the hiccups should be forced to the top.

the best way to get rid of hi cups is to exhale all the air that you can out of your lungs and then slowly take in a very deep breath. you may need to do this two or three times. what this does , is it gets the lungs back into a normal breathing rhythm. the result is no more hi cups.

.Hick ups are caused when the diaphragm is out of sync with your lung inhalation so the best way to stop hick ups is to hold your breath with your lungs empty.

Drink a swig of straight concentrated lemon juice -- the kind in the bottle. Works like a charm.
