I am relocating to Oahu from the UK in order to marry my fiance, who has lived there most of his life. My 2 teenage children are also moving with us. As money will be a little tight for a year or two we are considering buying a property in Waianae. Do you think my english children will be ok living in this area?

Of course they will. I have heard that Hawaiians are very friendly and family-oriented. They should have a blast. Good luck!

It will take sevral years for them to assimilate, it took me 2 when I moved there from Georgia (US). There was a lot of fighting that went along with being white as well. The language spoken is a dialect of English known as pidgin, good luck ever grasping that especially from a UK English back ground, even school was tought in this dialect, but that was 15 years ago maybe they have progressed but I doubt it. Good luck Waianae to the best of my recolection was not a great place for whites, but as I said that was some time ago. Also the locals idea of a fair fight is 5 to 1 if your white.Best of luck on your eandeavor.
