It costs about $50 to spay your cat here. Although this can vary depending on your area and whether you go to a Vet or SPCA. SPCA often offers discounts.
It only costs about $3 to nutter your cat, or $7 if you want to fluff-a-nutter your cat, but his option is most popular in New England. Of course, there can be hidden costs, like the trip to the emergency room because the cat clawed your eye out when you tried to spread peanut butter on it. And the cost to clean up your cat when you're tired of it having a sticky, greasy coat.
To Neuter a cat costs about $10 less than spaying your cat. Spaying costs even more if your cat has to stay over night, which is more likely than if you neuter it.
Many communities offers specials on spaying, neutering and rabies shots once a year. Sometimes it's free or a nominal ($5-$10) fee. Usually in spring. Check the newspapers in larger cities. They are usually coordinated by the local SPCA or animal shelter so you could also ask them.

Try the Friends of Animals Website - This is a low cost spay/neuter certificate. All you do is fill in your zip code and up comes a list of vets in your area that will take the certificate, and pay the amount listed below, and when you get the certificate you make the appt w/that vet and that's it. Pretty simple really. I listed below the info from that website:
Spay and Neuter Certificate Information
Although there are an estimated 100 million cats and dogs kept by responsible and caring people in the United States, there is also a tragic number of these companion animals who suffer horrid cruelties associated with abandonment.
Animal shelters in the U.S. kill about 5.1 million such abandoned pets each year. And uncounted millions more suffer sickness, exposure, starvation and death on the streets of the nation’s cities and towns, and in the fields and forests of the countryside.
From its beginning in 1957, FoA has assumed a leadership role in advocating low-cost spaying and altering as the most effective means of preventing the births of unwanted dogs and cats, and their subsequent abandonment, suffering and mass killing. For more than four decades, we have operated the only nationwide breeding control program in the United States facilitating more than 2 million spay/neuter procedures.
Pet owners may purchase a certificate from Friends of Animals that can be used for a routine spay or neuter surgery at any of FoA’s participating veterinary hospitals.
Spaying and Neutering Certificates may be purchased on-line. Or to order by mail call 1-800-321-PETS (1-800-321-7387) and request an application
The recommended age for spay/neutering is 2-6 months of age.
Female animals should be spayed before their first heat (estrus cycle). They do not need to have a litter before spaying.
FoA certificates are not valid for a cat if the cat is to be declawed.
Cats need their claws for protection and for their physical and mental well-being. Declawing is painful, cruel and psychologically damaging.

My female was spayed last week, and the bill was $160.00. Neutering costs half that.
You might try calling different vets...different areas; different charges?
Or, as suggested, get in touch with your ASPCA or local Humane Society. Both are concerned, and want to help in any way they can, to control the over-population of our feline friends.....and canines too!
You do know that animals live longer if spayed or neutered...
Good question....hope it gets others to spay and neuter!
Thanks!

Depends on the vet. with certificates you can get spaying/neutering in the $40-60 range. Without Spay/neuter certificate at a fancy vet office they will charge you office fee, vaccinations, exam, anestesia, surgery...could be $200

It depends on where you live, and where you go. Low-cost neuter and spay programs are abundant in this country because it's so important to have it done.
Our vet charged us around $50 to neuter our male.

your local spca probably does it alot cheaper than a vet...i know the one around here is $25-$30 depending on female/male...they offer cheaper prices that way owners are more likely to get it done and not have to worry about expensive costs

The amount varies, but a lot of vets or humane societies can arrange to perform the operations on a sliding scale b/c it's so important to get your pets neutered.
