I believe in God too, but I am not ignorant enough to think that if I go to church every week and read my bible everyday, that I have a paved road to eternal life.....and can go around judging adn condemning. That is the Lord's job, not any man's. They think that by following what the bible says, word for word is the way to go. The bible is so contradictory anyway. I have enough intelligence to make my own decisions, and think for myself, and not try to force those beliefs onto others (lest ye be judged...). They must not realize, God didin't write the bible.....it was written by men, and often men with agendas. How is it that certain men decided to remove things from the bible, like the chapters regarding Mary....with the justification that it was too "glorifying" to women at a time when women were supposed to be slaves to their men, regardless of how the men treated them, and controlled them. Is it God that told them to do that? Not my God.

There are anti-theists who are just as judgemental as the so-called Bible-thumpers. Some insecurity or personal aversion to religion causes you to take the words of the religious more personally. And I would say there are as many or more atheistts these days thumping things like "An Inconvenient Truth" than the Bible, though if you live in the South you mat not see that and may be surrounded by more of the Biblical type. If you consider the big picture then you will see that I'm right. The balance of powers inherent insociety pretty much shows that it must be. If you are concerned about these people though, consider putting yourself in their shoes. You don't have to empathize with them, but when you understand where they're coming from then you can respond appropriately.

Going to church every week and reading the Bible every day are not how you get to heaven; they are a few of the ways we can gow in spirituality. Who gave you that mind to think for yourself and find these contradictions? There is only one that I can remember, and I've read 75% of the books in it. The Bible was written by God through men, otherwise every other sentence would be a contradiction. That thing about removing verses from the Bible didn't happen; that is a myth created by Dan Brown in the Da Vinci Code.

While it is true that God used men to write the bible, that is the only thing that can write. Monkeys aren't to good at it.
It was done under inspiration and god had it preserved for us though for centuries men tried to destroy the whole thing.
They added words and chapters and things to prove what they believed to be true. Only in this day and age and finding lost scrolls is the bible probably more accurate then ever before.
I feel at this time of the end it is more important for these things to come to light. The new English versions are excellent sources of information and easy to read. Isn't it true that God created the Universe, the complex human body and the planets.
Do you honestly believe that he couldn't make sure one book was accurate? While men are very overpowering and dominating that was Eve's punishment. Your craving will be for your husband and he will dominate you. God is not parcial to men. He is the one who preserved the bible not men. Alex

Self Righteous In The Bible

stringemuphigh,
You've said it all right here:

"I have enough intelligence to make my own decisions, and think for myself,"

That's good that you have enough intelligence to do those things. However you also are stuck on your own way. You have that choice. Go your way, or go God's way. I'm not saying that the Bible says, " Thou shalt go to church on Sundays." But what I am saying is,: Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So hear, and recieve faith. That's God's way. Your way seems so me, me, me. Hence your picture.

Trust God, and live your convictions. The Bible is inspired. If you don't trust that well, pray about it. Unless you just want to go your own way. That's up to you.

Okay, but can you imagine having the taste buds of a catfish. They're actually located pretty much over it's entire body and help it track down any food that's with in range. They are, however, heavily concentrated in the whiskers. And I've never seen an earthworm jump.

I know, Dearheart, I know. It gets old after a page or too with the same idiots posting the same stuff day in day out. Think of it this way. They think they're RIGHT. We think they're WRONG. Thankfully we both have freedom of speech and religion and neither of us are being drug out and flogged in the middle of the square. My God is nothing like theirs and probably a lot like yours. Mine is a loving Deity who has a great sense of humour and likes cookies. Somedays we have to do the best WE can and let God sort it out. Blessings on you, my child.

unfortunately most of them have put themselves on some pedestal thinking they are almighty and righteous. They obviously have not actually gotten it yet. They are confused and yet think they know it all. Don't worry about them, God will handle that. Although going to church is good to feed your soul, going is not what paves your way to heaven. It is all about you and God--your relationship with him. He knows your heart as he does those you talk about in your question. Most go to church and think--hey I am such a good christian and blah blah yet are committing adultery or embezzlement and so on. So, like I said they are confused as most of this world is.
