At a lodging place on the way, the LORD met {Moses} and was about to kill him.

I guess Moses owed god some money...

I found this answer on a Website I sometimes use, so I hope this helps. I listed the address below.

Q. Why does Exodus 4:24 indicate that God wanted to put Moses to death? How can we reconcile this with a loving God? (Birmingham, England)

Exodus 4:24

24 ¦ Now it came about at the lodging place on the way that the LORD met him and sought to put him to death.

Moses was on his way back to Egypt from Midian and while stopped at an inn with his wife and two sons, he became very ill. His illness was a result of disobedience to God. He was so ill, he was near death. It appears that he was so sick he could not even get out of bed.

The reason for this illness was that Moses had neglected to circumcise one of his sons, probably because his wife Zippooah was not in agreement with doing it. But, as you know God had required it of Abraham, and all Hebrews (Gen. 17:14).

Moses was the leader of the covenant people of God, and he could not be a leader if he was not going to follow God himself. You cannot expect to lead people to obey God if you won't obey God yourself! I think we have a powerful illustration here of what God expects of all who lead God's people today. We must first be obedient to God, then we can lead others.

This conclusion may bother some, and it certainly is distasteful, but it is also instructive and helpful. God demands obedience from his leaders. Consequences are severe if we refuse our responsibility. It think it's a great lesson to be learned.

Exodus 4:24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

Since it's a matter of speculation I'll share what Albert Barnes has written on this passage.

Moses was attacked by a sudden and dangerous illness, which he knew was inflicted by God. The word “sought to kill” implies that the sickness, whatever might be its nature, was one which threatened death had it not been averted by a timely act. Zipporah believed that the illness of Moses was due to his having neglected the duty of an Israelite, and to his not having circumcised his own son; the delay was probably owing to her own not unnatural repugnance to a rite, which though practiced by the Egyptians, was not adopted generally in the East, even by the descendants of Abraham and Keturah. Moses appears to have been utterly prostrate and unable to perform the rite himself.

Exodus 4
24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

Moses did not circumcise his son!
Circumcision is a physical indicating to the service of the Lord!

According to what my NIV states God was unhappy with Moses for not circumcising his son and was about to kill him. Zipporah , Moses wife sensed the divine displeasure and fate of Moses and took care of the problem. Therefore God left Moses alone due to the crcumcision being done.
I hope this helps

the lodgin is poetic... the rest was to emphasize Moses who would become the lawgiver was NOT above the law and some of the law was already given to Abraham

24 At a lodging place on the way, the LORD met {Moses} [a] and was about to kill him.

God told Abraham to circumsize his descendants and Moses did not circumsize his own sons and was negligent

Moses is shown to be NOT above the law

I believe his wife circumcized the sons to save Moses if I remmember right and complained he was a bridegroom of blood.. a messy story.. but it shows Moses is not above the law and God is serious about sin

24And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

What that verse really meant is that The Lord God wanted to teach Moses a lesson of obedience and to remind him to follow the law given to Abraham which until that moment he never fulfilled, namely to circumcise all the first born sons, and all descendant of Abraham. Although God wanted to kill Moses, but the truth is God wanted to have Moses obey the law by the action taken by his wife.

Moses was on the way to Egypt, and since circumcision is dangerous, didn't circumcise his son on the way. He got to an inn, and settled in before circumcising his son. G-d decided to kill him by having a snake swallow him. Tziporrah circumcised the son, and threw the foreskin to the snake, which was at Moses's legs. The snake stopped, and she said "My husband would have died because of circumcision."

Hey I'm pretty sure it means that the Lord was really mad at Moses and when it says he wouldn't let him in that is a form of showing us how mad he was because Moses was going to take his wife and children with him on his journey and back then that was a useless mistake, plus back then if you disobeyed god you died and that leads into why Jesus came to earth in the 1st place. hope that helps.

If one does not have faith interior the Trinity , one isn't a Christian. Holy Trinity famous one God the three persons of the Holy Trinity are different and separate: yet, they are one (Eph. 4:4–6). this grants us the secret of the Godhead—we ask your self the way it rather is? The Christian Church holds the doctrine of the Holy Trinity as one among their oldest ideals (a million puppy. a million:2). As we inspect the classic teachings of the Christian Church and learn the Bible, we would desire to constantly boost in our expertise and settle for the Holy Trinity with the help of religion (Luke 3:21, 22). Holy Trinity—One God the father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, 3 separate persons, and yet One. Divine secret previous concept. we inspect One—we inspect all. We pray to a minimum of one—We pray to All. we like One—we like All. One love’s us—All love us. Father–Son–Holy Spirit—One God. The secret of the Holy Trinity separates the Christian Church from different religions. Catholic Christian †
