Wow, sad story to hear she was trained and not has regressed. I know I never have any problem training any puppy we've ever had just by taking them out ofter, praising them big time when they go and immediately taking them back in the house so they equate outside with bathroom. Of course as they get older they can stay out longer, etc.......I also pay very close attention, like don't take my eyes off of them to catch them in the beginning if they start to go in the house and then firmly but gently pick them up telling the NO and go right outside. But since your dog is older these things may not work any longer. Are you able to be home all day with her and try to work at it? If not, maybe call your local kennels and see about classes. Maybe she is just mad that her life changed and she just needs to get happy again. Try to stay calm about it.
And don't listen to sad sack Heinz above me. Geez, why anyone would get a dog and make it live outside 24/7 blows my mind. How useless is that? He is just a grumpy old man as you can tell by his picture.

Never hit a dog for any reason. It does not understand why you are hitting it and all that will do is make it fear you.
Make sure the area where the dog has broke training is cleaned with an enzyme cleaner specifically for that purpose. Once an animal has gone in the house it will use that spot again if it can smell it. Follow the cleaner's directions EXACTLY.
Make sure the dog is getting attention. It could be that it is feeling left out of the pack and is looking for attention.
Are you maintaining the routine she was in when your boyfriend and his exwife were still together? If not, try doing that...
You might have to retrain them by letting them eat once a day then immediately putting them outside. Stay with them until they relieve themselves, praise them and bring them back inside. It may take awhile, but if you do it every day without fail, you will retrain them.
The only other way is to crate them when you are gone and leave them free only in noncarpeted areas.

The poor dog is confused.Try taking her out about every 30 minutes, get her used to going out side again. You didn't mention her age and if shes old that may be a factor too in her potty discretion's.don't give up on the dog and sometimes the seizure meds cause them to urinate more frequently. No I don't think shes doing it for spite,as I said try walking her or letting her out side in a fenced area to do her business. Most adult dogs females especially don't like to pee in their home.good luck to you and the dog.
And to" Heinz" I feel sorry for anyone that doesn't want to share the love and companionship of a beloved animal. My home is spotless and I have a dog, Chica a black and white Chihuahua, that is a member of our family, she sleeps with my husband and I every night, shes groomed on a weekly basis and is probably cleaner than you or your home. You must be a lonely man to not share your life with a loving animal. No wonder you are always so bitter.I feel sorry for you .

Leave the dog out for a couple hours before allowing back in the house. We got a dog back in July that was older and we couldn't get him to stop going in the house so we got mad one day and left him out for like 3 hours and then let him back in and he didn't go inside. Now we don't have to do that except for at 4am (we have a fenced in yard) if we don't let him out at 4am he will go on the floor yet even if we watch him do both deeds outside and let him back in less then 10 min of me going back to bed he will bark so I will go in to check on him and he has gone again so the only way we have found to prevent that from happening is let him out at 4am until 7am then we can let him inside with no problems. We hope he will outgrow this before winter otherwise he is going to get mighty cold.
Also our dog is only allowed in the one room with linoleum flooring (easy to clean) and when he goes we use a disinfectant floor cleaner.
Good luck

Put her in a dog crate. Take her outside to go every so often. Dogs usually don't go in their house(the crate). Do this for a few weeks and then gradually let her out of the crate, but soon as you take her out of the crate take her outside. You have to treat her like a puppy again since she forgot and has been traumatized by the separation.

Buy the dog some dog diapers, maybe she is getting a bladder infection. Take her to the vet immediately.

The animal is either ill or trying to get his owners attention and is mad about something. They do, do those kind of things when they feel left out or betrayed.

Keep it outside. The bacteria (possibly viral) content in your own body has to be going through the roof. Being in a unclean environment takes years off of your life.
So remember, when the dog is pissing on your couch and laughing at you, it's really killing you and laughing.

Make her smell her spot and scold her. Take her immediately outside. Dogs have short attention spans so do this immediately after the mess. ALSO and most importantly if she does go outside praise her like never before. They love praise and will do whatever they have to to get it. She will learn!
