Does every human being have a soul (serious question, I was thinking it possible not everyone does, but then a moment later, reasoned that yes, every human being has a soul).

What creatures have a soul or don't. What do you base your answer on?

Ugh, not enough coffee in my system for coherent thought....
Been thinking about this one, and it's makin my head hurt, so I'll just go with what I've come up with so far...

I think I have a soul, but I don't really know how to define it. Without a definition, I couldn't say for sure what animals might or might not have a soul as well. Do mosquitos have souls? Is it only creatures with brains? Is it dependant on Linnaean Taxonomy? Like this phylum has it, this one doesn't?

It all leads back to "what is a soul". And my honest answer must be....I don't know.

Soul of the Jedi

"What creatures have a soul or don't. What do you base your answer on?"

Neuroscience shows quite clearly that the brain is fully capable of generating its own messages. It has no need to receive anything from anywhere else.

Not only is there no way that something immaterial can communicate with something material but there appears no need for a soul to exist in the first place.

I believe that every living creature has a soul of some sort, some to a greater degree than others. Bugs might not. If spiders don't have souls, I'd be willing to accept that butterflies and ladybugs don't have them either. After that spider last weekend....yeah.

Just so that you know, living things , including humans don't have a soul, but rather, the soul which is who you really are, have a body.

I believe every creature has a soul but I don't know how or why, there is no empirical evidence for it. So, I take it on faith.

We don't have souls. We ARE souls. We have bodies, at the moment.
