Not only youth no one is not thinking about our environment. Many of them still believe that the industrialisation is a boom but they don't know that the pollution is making many other species extinct day to day.Due to the stupid activities made by the man there formed a hole in the ozone layer which protect the living beings from harmful radiations. The main cause for pollution in my country(India) is deforestation.Trees and plantation activities must be done at the highest levels to reduce the pollution we r facing on this earth.Probably in future the mankind and the other species will suffer the water and food shortage at its peak.So mainly every product must be eco-friendly and the governments must ban the usage of polythene bags which causes a lot of pollution and it will take a minimum of 400years to degrade itself. As the vultures r dying in India at peak the scientists are worrying. Not only vultures but also others.Atlast man would be the sufferer.

I think that youth today is much more concerned about environmental degradation than they were in the last generations. There's plenty information about it on TV and internet, that they have no choice but learning on this subject. I don't know about other countries, but here in Brazil the TV stations and the Government give a lot of information on this subject; and environmental degradation is always a spot on the daily news. So I think youth today is much more informed and, therefore, aware of the consequences of a bad management of the natural resources, the greenhouse effect and the incorrect disposal of industrial residues. I would say 'yes, the youth are concerned about environmental degradation'.

Well, I know that some of today's youth are starting to see through the barrage of doom and gloom fearmongering to realize that things are not as bad as we have been led to believe. (Something that is rather obvious to anyone who pays attention to reality...instead of getting their "facts" only from the media.) All we ever hear is bad this and negative that and the world is going to hell in a handbasket...when the truth is that western civilization has made great progress in cleaning up the environment in the last 30-40 years. Most people today have never heard of Love Canal, do not realize just how polluted Lake Erie used to be, that the Hudson River was once a far more toxic brew than it is today, and that the levels of air pollution in almost every American city have been greatly decreased.
Sure, there are still problems to address...but the barrage of negativity gives many people the impression that the situation is hopeless and utterly fails to acknowledge the things which do work and need to be continued. The fearmongering also creates a situation where we are unable to stop doing the things which don't work and only cost us money which could be more wisely spent.

First of all education in this regard is often assimlated by youth today, by way of those, of earlier generations, who may not have regarded degradation, and so haven't those issues in any serious context or thought process.
Knowledge often happens,,,AFTER we need it.
Even more sad might be the fact that what is hyped,,,both pro and con,,, can be extremely confusing,,, and many young people aren't thinking farther out than tomorrow, or next week, etc. No offense meant. That can also be said of many adults,,, especially those with disregard with the attitude,,," What, Me Worry?"
Sadly it takes global involvement to effect any Universal changes, and as one voice you or I may not make much difference. That is no reason not to try however.
An example might be,,,abstract or not,,, "Ah I'm only 18, We will never run out of gasoline." On the other end of that thinking is,,, "Ah I'm 62, I know gasoline will still be around after my life ends." Hence, that thinking dismisses most desire or thought that we need to be more conservative, less wasteful.
Rev. Steven
I do hope I'm no longer here, to see a day when we return to pre technology, although I'd survive. I hope I don't live long enough to witness our own self erradication. I hope that people such as you, do have a voice that others listen to,,,Young or not.
Keep up the good fight, even in the possible face of being largely disregarded.

My general perception (as an adult) is that youths are incredibly concerned about the environment, as long as it doesn't involve them actually doing anything.
They will use a mountain of paper to produce posters exhorting us to "Save the rainforest", but will not walk 1 yard to put rubbish in a bin. Just look at the amount of litter around any school. We all have to be environmentally friendly, but that does not include THEM turning lights off when they leave a room, or using the games console less.

Some of today's youth are very interested in the environment and worry about its degradation. The ones that I know are furious about what their parent's society has allowed to happen. Many young people today live with a feeling of hopelessness.

The youth I know are. They recycle everything and use alternative forms of transportation easilier then adults, riding bikes and skateboards rather than gas burners. I think the youth in america are the best in the world and only learn bad habits from those who have given up on change and use rebellions to not seek change, which works against them.

some are some arent, like members of any other generation.at home and school, they must be taught about these issues,i try to be "green",im a vegetarian, and i walk or drive a hi-mileage,low perol scooter rather than take a car, unless i am going long distances,or it would be in a mega hiway, where scooters are dangerous ,as they cant keep up with traffic.also, will put solar panels on my house soon..if children and youtha re educated about these issues, they will care too.iif parent s or schoold dont tell them, they will not be concerned-its up to elders to teach !!!!

Nowadays youth are more interested in computers & cell phones etc., than their environment. study of nature, respecting the nature and protecting the nature is not their part of life. everybody should know that the nature is the best teacher. if we neglect nature we won't have a chance even to regret.
