would you loan someone money who bounced checks? if you write a bad check that only means that your more then likely default on a loan too.

Bouncing bank checks should not effect your credit score, they actually have nothing to do with your credit as long as you pay the bank fees in a resonable time. If you fail to pay the fees the bank considers the bad check as a "loan" and reports it on your credit.

It does have a negative effect. That will stay on your credit for a few months, if it's only 1. If you habitually do it, it will stay on for a long long time.
