I can feel the essence of me. It is who I am inside. Do you think that it is possible to have a soul and still not believe in a supreme being? I do. Please don't insult me, I am not trying to convert anyone. I am just curious because I don't understand. I do believe in God but that has nothing to do with this question. Thanks.

I know I got a soul too... But I don't see any link with a belief in god...
I mean, I feel that a human being is the mix between his body (material) and his soul or spirit (spiritual). But I don't believe a supreme being put that soul in me... It's just the way I am. It's part of the evolution of humanity.

I can feel my own sense of life. What does that prove? That I am aware of my own existence. If feels as though I'm separate to anything else and connected at the same time.
But to believe in something is to have non contradictory evidence of it's uniqueness, also. God or a supreme being is so filled with contradictions that our minds can not understand such a non concept / concept. So we are unable to claim knowledge of things that we can not ever know. There is so much that we can know, why bother with what we can't?

I don't think that most atheists say they don't believe in a "soul" of some kind. I don't personally believe that I have any kind of ETERNAL soul, but I am who I am, and I would assume that when I die, my personality and/or soul and/or life energy and/or whatever you want to call it will dissipate and spread out, the same as my physical body will.

I do, as an amateur reflexologist, believe in bodily energy, or "chi", and I would assume that this is the same thing that most theists refer to as their soul. But they take it one step further, and place a sort of "selfishness" on that energy, that I don't agree with. In essence, a theist hopes to be "himself" for all of eternity, in some form or fashion. I see no reason to believe that this is the case. To do so would go against everything that we know about the nature of energy and/or the universe.

Yeah, pretty sure a majority of atheists do believe in a soul of some kind or another. And you're right, belief in god has nothing to do with this question. We have a "soul" with or without god =)

"feelings of the soul" and other ecstatic experiences can be traced back to natural chemical emotional responses... similar to the feelings of "love" which is really an extension of a natural instinct to bond for mating intensified by the more intellectual sentient parts of our thought process.. and if as simple a process as that can be elevated to the heights of "love" i see no reason why a similar emotional response can be elevated to the feeling of "a soul"

We are made of biological organs that make us function. There's nothing paranormal about that.

Our brain generates electric pulses that activates our muscles and allow us to "come alive". There's nothing paranormal about that.

What makes you think a clock doesn't have a conscience? Just because it doesn't speak it means that it's not self-aware? But of course it doesn't have a conscience. It is made of parts that makes it work. We are made of parts that make us work.

People point God as soon as they can't explain something. My logic prevents me from doing that.

I'm not sure what you are feeling..how could I? It is impossible to understand what someone else is thinking/feeling/sensing.
What you call a soul may be what I consider to be sensory input.
