There likely won't be a revolution to replace the use of petroleum. The changes are more likely to happen over time (unless there is some catastrophic event), since we are so dependant on the substance. Some industries will probably never be able to replace petroleum.
As for what will replace petroleum, no one is sure. Experts believe that there will never be a single solution, but rather many different forms of energy that will help to reduce the demand on oil. There currently exists no technology that can effectively reduce oil consumption economically and efficiently for the masses. However, there are many promising technologies, but they have not been perfected yet. Hopefully they will be improved upon in the near future.

Bitumen can be replaced by by concrete.
Tar can be replaced by plastic.
Petrol-based solvents can to some extent be replaced by plant oil and alcohol. Or we can stop using chemicals that need petrol-based solvents, for example by using water paint instead of oil paint.
Car and aircraft fuel will have to be replaced by electricity. Whether the cars are charged or filled with some kind of intermediate such as synthetic methanol or hydrogen is a technical detail. A more crucial queston is how to produce the electricity. Nuclear power is my favorite. Anyway, I don't think that bio-fuel is a long-term solution since land is too prescious to use for fuel production.
Spaceship fuel can be replaced by using nuclear rocket engines.
As a raw material for the chemical industry, hydrocarbons can be synthesized from coal.

We must conserve the natural resources that are available to us like petrol. But it is one of the most important product in our day to day life which is used for transportation etc...So in order to replace the petroleum and other fuels which cause enormous pollution one must use eco-friendly fuels such as the fuel extracted from soy beans and other natural products and can also use the automobiles run by gas.So in order to conserve our environment one must use eco-friendly products in order to meet the requirements of the todays life.So the scientists must work hard to achieve it.

there are many scientific answers. so many substitutes....
the problem is economy and politics. there are so many petrol based economies, and so many petrol sponsored politicians, so alot of effort is made in order to avoid petrol free solutions.
on the other hand, there are countries who are out of the petrol cycle, and that do real efforts to avoid using it. sweden for an example has accepted a master plan how to totally stop using petrol around year 2200 (i don't remember the exact year).
