Because of what others have done, does not mean it represents the whole religion. There are radical Muslims just as there are Radical Christians. The United States has had home grown terrorist for YEARS and YEARS (need we mention the KKK? Republicans? The Police?) It is the media who portrays Muslims in a bad light because of what a few radicals do. I'm sick of being downgraded on Yahoo! TAKBIR! What does Islam really teach? Please back up your answer with Qur’an or Sunnah. It takes a Ummah to raise a Muslim

I do not lead a sheltered life. If I did I would be oppressed! I am not oppressed at all. I know the answer to my question. People question and fear what they do not understand. And they don’t wish to gain understanding of it in the first place. So instead of making assumptions about Islam, then why don’t people go and READ the Qur’an? Is it for fear of all they were taught growing up will be shattered and broken?

chawinters22 - Muslims are standing up against it. But the media is NOT showing you that.

And think about this, the US is the ones who supplied these nations with the weapons and the trainings. The US provided all of this. but they dont show or tell you this on the news.

and for those who think i dont know anything about it x-ains or islam. i was raised in one and converted to the other on my own.

People who see just a verse in the Quran that says "kill" automatically think the whole thing is bad. Learn your History in Islam then you will understand that it does NOT mean just going to kill the non believers because they dont beleive as you do. The wars over there today is not because someone wants to convert another. It is a Oil war. It is a Land war. Territory war.

it is simple...first of all you compare it to radical Christians...but you forget the most important fact...when a radical christian as you put it steps out and acts a way that is wrong according to the
ways of a Christan you will always hear from other Christan's of how wrong what they did or said was.....
but with all the terrorist activities going on and the sheer hatred we see from the Islamic religion we still don't see one of you stand up publicly and speak out against it.....that would speak volumes to the world but instead we see people of your religion stand in the streets waving burning American flags and screaming death to America and taking up sides with them. ....I have never in one of those crowds seen anyone speaking out against what they were doing....I realize it could mean death to one who speaks out but you know that is the same thing all over the world for all Christan's too....not in America but in other countries Christians are standing up and being killed for what they are standing for....so if Christians can take a stand against what is wrong why cant you?...also you talk about the weapons...the USA tried to help thse in need of help and they took advantage of all of it.....the world is finaly tired of listening to the muslims lies and falling for their empty words and now the world is seeing their religion for what it really is and that I pray will never change.....we need to keep seeinbg the evil in Islam and always fighting against it...

OK don't get Mad, Don't go doing anything crazy like strapping a bomb to your body and killing innocent civilians or hijacking a plane and flying it into buildings. Yes, the U.S. has some crazy people, like you mention the KKK and the republicans:) But we are not every day blowing people up. If Muslim was a peaceful religion more Muslims would be standing up against the atrocities that are going on. You, as Muslim need to point out when your fellow Muslims are radicals and are about to do somethings stupid. Unfortunately for you SO MANY have done this that anybody around the world cannot help but to look at Muslim and think Terrorist, is it right? NO, But that it is the way it is. It is up to you change the way I think and that is by stopping all of your brothers and sisters from committing terrorist acts and coming to some peaceful solutions.

I am sorry I cannot back up any answer with the Q'uran or the other Muslim Scriptures...I do not have them in my library and If I am not mistaken they are all in Arabic (I know there are English online translations...but I rarely have time to find them cause I do not have a fast/unlimited internet connection).

For the umpteenth time (go look for other questions like this)...I do not insult or discriminate against Islam (at least as regards Mainstream Sunni/Sufi/Shiite Islam). I do not discriminate mindlessly against Muslims (once more with feeling). My focus and my indignation regards terrorism is exclusively on the radicals a.k.a. Osama and Fiends.

I'll give you the same answer that I have given the last 5 or so questions almost exactly like this: Unlike the Radical Christians whose actions have been opposed vocally and visibly by many righteous Christians, the Radical Muslims face little if any opposition from the righteous Muslims. And it is not cause of the media; go ahead and look for any major rallies, demonstrations or operations by Muslim majorities which are against Osama and Fiends...thats right there are virtually none! The rallies instead are targeted against us Non-Muslims whenever we commit stupidity (understandable) and we try to defend ourselves (not-understandable). Thus for a significant segment of Non-Muslims, they cannot help but conclude that your silence regarding Osama and Fiends and your vocalness against virtually everything we do = complicity, collusion and support for Osama and Fiends.

How that will change depends on what all people (Muslim and Non-Muslim) do now and in the future...

I agree there are a few bad people in every religion and culture. Same for Islam, I would give the example of the non_muslim lady who would throw trash on the Prophet (PBUH) daily and one day when she did not, he went to inquire about her health and his courtesy impressed her enough to convert to Islam. We can not eradicate the terrorists, that is the work of the satin, as long as the world lives, he will live. As long as he lives, there will be bad people somewhere. We can not generalise this concept on the whole religion or the followers of the religion because some people found it a good deed to blow up themselves or planes etc. On the other hand, innocent Muslims are suffering daily as well. Look at all the innocent Muslims killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Lebenan, Kashmir in the last five years, there is no count. Thsi count is far less than the total of 9-11 and soldeirs after that died in war against terror. I would highly encourage non-Muslims here to feel free to ask questions about this religion but please give this religion the respect it needs. Of course by saying this I am implying that I do not believe in your religion but please observe that I did not say bad to any religion up here. I respect anyone as much as I would want to be respected, peace to all. Feel free to email me with any questions

Most people aren't blind or stupid or deaf.

We see Islam dancing in the street celebrating the deaths of Christians, Jews, Americans and other Muslims.

We read and hear their complete and total murderous rhetoric calling for the eradication of Israel, America, Britain, and so forth.

No Muslim has yet excommunicated or called for a Fatwa or Jihad against the murderers that they claim do not represent Islam.

Islam protects, hides, funds and condones the actions of the murderous cowards of Islam.

Islam will definitely kill *YOU* promptly and completely.

If not, then why the h*ll don't you get your peace-activist terrorist-condoning *** over to Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran and live there a while?

Read this article about Islam that just came out:

Nice writing, Kalamiyah!

I think people, mostly non-Muslims mistake Islam because of what is going on around the world today. The word "Islam" itself means: peace, purity, acceptance and commitment. (Hadith).

As people we should try to seek the Truth, we should learn about all religions properly (such as reading one of the religions' Holy Books) no matter what religion we are and then decide for ourselves (what the Truth is).

The same way, non-Muslims should read the Qur'an, even just a llittle parts of it and see what it really teaches. No religion says it is forbidden to learn about other religions!

I am a Muslim, but at the moment i am reading the New Testament and some of the Bible, to see what Christianity is all about.

Additional Note - I don't think there's any such thing as an American or Indian or Black or White. We are all children of Adam. It's all about our level of piety and rightiousness. That is the only way we humans differ. God only made different races so we that we could identify each other.

If Islam is a Religion of peace...why won't Islamic leadership denounce the violence ""Islamic Terrorists"" spread across the world. Instead of making excuses and pointing to completely unrelated subjects....( I am not a Republican, and don't support the platform...But you don't see Republicans strapping bombs to themselves and killing INNOCENT people) Why don't Muslim people band together and oust this radical sect ...Publicly and without question unite the religion truly under the guise of peace.....I know all Muslims are not bad...I am not an idiot...However , until all ""peaceful"" Muslims denounce this violence...People will continue to question how much this religion really wants peace.

like Irmak i celebrate you,too
i'm a muslim and by the way i like my religion and i belive it's a compelet religion although i have so many questions about some rules we have.
I think that their bad thought about Islam is because of the politic.
you know we have so many wars, killing, etc that they say Muslims have done this, but we don't really see what's happening really, beacause it's politic
now listen my friends those who makes and starts these wars are not muslim,(and I don't say they are jesus)
i agree with you, too. It's oil war, land war,...,and because in these lands and countries Muslims live and they want to save their home and life against attaks they call Muslim terrorist.
and i have to say you who think the accident of 11th september was done by Muslim(even radicals or not) you are wrong.
it has proved by many magazines,by many scientists that it was also a part of their plan ,a part of the plan those polititions who want to have all the word ,and capture all the word.

To compare Islam to Christianity by mentioning the KKK, Repubs, and police is absurd. For one, who said (besides themselves) that the KKK and Republicans are 'christian'?
I'm sure all police officers reading this are happy to be included
among U.S. 'terrorist groups'!

If the media reports that suicide bombers struck (again!) you say
they are protraying Islam in a bad light. How many 'christians'
(so-called) have strapped explosives to themselves and blown
up innocent people (including women and children) in the name
of God? I don't think you can name one instance, even of someone claiming to act in Christ's name. Yet, this happens virtually daily in the Middle East, and also in other parts of the world, and is invariably done in the name of Islam as part of Jihad or a fatwah. There is a huge and radical difference between the two religions, and their respective fruits are evident for all to see.

If you are tired of being 'downgraded' as a religious person, I strongly urge you to read the Bible and get a true education (from God's Word) of what a Christian really is. Anyone can call themselves anything, but labels do not show the heart inside, as only the (Christian) scriptures can do.

Matthew 7:13-20 (KJV) Jesus Christ speaking:

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
