When you're young all things are possible...plus you're broke/college student. Nothing worth conserving. The heart part is caring for others and their social circumstances. IE> having an open mind

When you're 40 most people have acquired a few things and they are willing to do alot to keep them. IE, they conserve. The no brain part would be the willingness to throw it all away or readily give it to those less fortunate. PLus, most people are married with kids at 40...so they are usually ultra conservative...unless they are wealthy, then they can afford to be more liberal.

true, and Thanks to Winston Churchill for this. Think about it, at 20 you are young, idealistic and think you know everything and you most likely are still in school, living at home and not really out in the workforce yet. You haven't felt the full effect of paying taxes and working hard to maintain a home and family.

By the time you are 40, you most likely have a family, work hard, own a home, car, etc. and you know you are responsible for your life and your actions.

Simple deduction really. I was VERY VERY liberal in my early 20's,but have become very conservative in my 40's. And it's because I work hard, play hard and have RESPONSIBILITIES.

19 is more of an age of blue tinted hair and that second or third ear ring. Yet 40 is a time to look toward the future, how you fit into society, and what are you doing for your later years and your children's welfare.

it's "socialist", not "liberal", and a tired old falsehood from before the 2nd world war. People with brains and hearts will always be in favour of freedom, solidarity and justice, and certainly not conservatives, especially not the US American brand.
