I am a talented singer, actor, dancer , and model, and im not just saying I have talent, I have been told my many people and have performed alot locally. I dont know how to make a break into the industry because it can be very expensive and ive noticed alot of places try to rip you off!! And Im not rich, I mean I have a bit of money and my paents would help out, but I cant afford to wastemy money. I really would like a career in the performing industry because I love it and i have been doing it my whole life. Please if anyone could help me with what steps I need to take to become a singer professionally, or an actor. if you were wondering I dont want to do it for the fame and the money, its something I really love doing, and no matter what im going to keep at it until it happens!

Okay -- let's map out a strategy.

The key is to work and keep working.

At your age you might intern at the local tv station and get exposure to how it's done.

Find out who is making local commercials for local tv (car sales, restaurants, public announcements) and make yourself available as talent.

Find out who is the local photographer for advertisements and offer to be the talent (even hand modeling wedding bands, lol).

So far, very little pay but you are building a portfolio and getting your face out there locally.

Stay in touch with all your connections. If I were young and doing this I'd get every boss to be my "advisor" or "mentor" so they can give you advice but better yet feel invested in your goals.

Hmmm ... eventually you'll have to have some 'head shots' (from your friend the photographer) and make a 'reel' (from your friends at the tv station) and head for the next biggest city that has TV for the entire country and companies that make Feature films (and documentaries and indies).

So the deal is you work and keep working. And you keep moving up. You state your dreams to those you work with so they can support you.

Lastly -- talent is cheap. Talent mostly hints at potential. Developing skills to go with talent is important.
Work on your skills, the medium doesn't matter.
Sing in the church choir.
Act in the theater.
Take ballet and jazz classes.

Almost no one is 'discovered', singers and actors work in the business and move up.

Luck, kid.

In the US we have performing arts unions--Equity, SAG, AFTRA etc. A book is published called the Ross Report which tells you which agents and managers are ok'd by the unions. These are usually ones that don't charge you money unless they get you work. Try sending pictures, resumes and even videos of any movie or stage work you have done to these agencies. Then follow up with phone calls. Some will have you come in for an audition. There are also websites that will list local auditions but check them out thoroughly. Sometimes the local offices of the unions will have a taped message about local auditions. Call the unions and see what it would take to join. 95% of the business is persistence.

I suggest you just keep doing what you are doing. If you are VERY good someone will notice you. It is VERY, VERY difficult to break into show biz and there is much hardship that goes with it. Enjoy what you are doing and leave the rest to God.
