One wonderfood--both in terms of nutrition, taste and versatility is quinoa. Marketed as "the supergrain of the future" for 10 years or more quinoa is a complete protein. It is generally sold as a whole and sometimes can be found in pasta form and with some variations of type (red quinoa etc). Unlike a lot of other fresh produce superfood, you can keep it on the shelf with your dry goods for sometime.
With a light nutty flavor and crunch quinoa cooks easily (same as rice) and is good either hot of cold. So, meal or snack on the go. It can also be prepared either sweet or savory, so there's your breakfast with syrup or dessert.
Excellent for vegetarian diets or omnivorous types.
I don't mean to come off as a quinoa zealot but it really is yummy.
Also a great resource for so called "superfoods" and their benefits is "Super Baby Food." And no, you don't have to have a baby to find the book useful. I will make you fall in love with bananas all over again.

The so-called 'gold standard' is still the egg.
A portion of the text from the link:
"Chicken eggs are the most commonly eaten eggs, and are highly nutritious. They supply a large amount of complete, high-quality[2] protein (which contains all essential amino acids for humans), and provide significant amounts of several vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, riboflavin, folic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, choline, iron, calcium, phosphorous and potassium. They are also one of the least expensive single-food sources of complete protein."

Blueberries have to rank up there as being one of the best foods around. Chock FULL of antioxidants, as part of your diet, they're thought to prevent cancer and ease the effects of aging. They also have lots of vitamin C and may be beneficial for the bladder too (like cranberries, they may help to prevent bladder infections)
Moreover, they're incredibly tasty. You can eat them as is, put them in your cereal in the morning, pop them into a salad for lunch or dinner, or blend them into a smoothie.
Bake them into whole grain muffins or pancakes, too!
They're really versatile, extremely good for you, and tasty to boot!
Can you tell I'm a blueberry freak? :D

check out the Sonoma Diet they talk about "power foods". They have the most nutritional value for the calories they have. I can't remember them all at the moment, I think there's a Top 10, but I know it included almonds, belle peppers, & blueberries
