The eye is closed down a bit... I have been flushing it with water, what else can I do?

well you could gently wipe the dog head and face so no more get in the eyes then wipe the corners of the eyes cause those sting bad.

Treat dogs the same way you would treat yourself. Gently flush with water continuously, trying to make sure not to get water in the ears (that causes another entire set of problems)

Rinsing is the best way to do it. Make sure you lift his eyelids a bit and let some water get in there, but not too much.
Also, very gently rub his eyes (when closed) to encourage tear formation, as tears will help to finish the rinsing and balance the salt and pH contents of the eye.

Next time try a dog shampoo or a baby shampoo.. because they are tearless =)
Keep flushing it and rub gently, it will be fine =)

It will go away, poor pup. Use baby shampoo to bathe him next time.

Swear, throw things, appologize to your pup, give it lots of love, and try rinsing it more.
