Did the pope really say "I predict Buddhism will be the Church's new enemy..." or are you perhaps taking his words out of context and trying to create hatred? The pope is the leader of the Catholic Church, which is a Christian religion, and I hope that you are not naive enough to believe that he would be encouraging people to find the truth in Buddhism or Hinduism. Why don't you provide a link to this alleged quote so that we can read it in its entirety and draw our own conclusions?
Is the Vatican really behind the conversions? No, the Holy Spirit is behind them. It is the Holy Spirit acting through the Church and its missionaries. And yes, the Church does really send missionaries all over the world to assist those in need and to spread the Good News. From St. Paul to St. Francis Xavier, the Church has always done this and will continue to do so.

Woah, I'm Buddhist (in my thinking) and the idea that Buddhism could be anyone's enemy is pretty crazy, I mean save China wiht th ewhole Tibet crap. Buddhism teaches acceptance of other people's religions and is (sorry if i'm pressuring my beliefs here, you don't need to believe what I believe, i'm just sayign what I do believe) probably the best religion to use in international affairs and issues today. Buddhism doesn't care whether or not there is a god, it is all about living and trying to find the god in yourself, if the Pope believes that there isn't a part of a greater power within everyone of us, then that's his choice, but he has a high power here and he shouldn't be creating religious wars, the last thing we need today is more wars over religions, a church shouldn't have enemies, only friends and people who choose not to believe the samething, but that doesn't make them enemies.

You're asking the right thing! The man could be called a hypocrit because he doesn't want te acnoledge the fact that his religion promotess mass hysteric and power to few. Buddihism promotes personal development and caring & respect for others and one's surroundings.
Yes the Vatican is behind the mass convertion, because they wanted power, just like other religious movements are trying to gain. The difference is, they were there first and had no competition in that day and age.

i dont think any religious person os on any position to point fingers Especially popes, with all the recent bad wrap they have bveen getting. they are just men. And if hes a atholic, then shouldnt he know better than to judge other perple's religions? if that statement is true, than cant we say ALL religions offer false hope, or the complete opposite? all religions are similar, and one is no better than the other, just as race, sex and other social labels.

You should put a quote/link to that reference (something current, not like 10 years old in some other language...), so people know you are not misquoting it (or making it up) just to slam another religion than your own, which everyone is pretty used to seeing around here.

churches everywhere do that, they send missionaries to where faith in Christ is weak. Buddism can't be considered a religion, it is more of a lifestyle. if you do want to know, I am in fact, Christian
