If you have a prebuilt computer (eMachines, Gateway, HP/Compaq, Dell) then your computer SHOULD have came with a Restore CD which basically reverts your computer back to how it was when it came out the box...in other words that means you will loose all your data...programs...drivers...and whatever else you have on your computer...

With older versions of Windows this wasn't the case since a restore only replaced Windows Files and left everything else alone...

So basically if your "uninstalling" XP then you have to have a bootable XP disc or a restore disc...and it's basically as easy as following the instructions that show up on the screen

You cannot "uninstall" Windows. If you don't want to lose your settings, try a Repair Install.

If you format, you will lose everything that was on your hard drive because formatting wipes everything out.
